Thanks for your reply. Your speculation makes sense to me. G.H. Ash has been a very elusive person that moved around a lot. Since they don't seem to have had any children, I guess it doesn't matter much. G.H. Ash was born in Alabama; in 1860 he was living with a brother in Coryell Co; he served in the Civil War in Texas and then went to Missouri where his mother was living. He married in Dent Co., MO, then came back to Texas and homesteaded in Young Co. He died in 1892 in Collin Co, TX. His marriage record in MO is the only record I've found that actually showed a name - Hamilton.
