Murder of grandparents ca 1874 and shotgun murder of John Coop by Jim Miller 1884
Jim Miller reportedly killed his grandparents with whom he lived about 1874 in Coryell County TX. He may or may not have been tried and found guilty of this depending on the stories one finds.....
In addition, "Deacon" Jim Miller is credited with the shotgun murder of his brother-in-law John Coop while Coop was sleeping on his own porch in Evant, Coryell County, TX, 30 Jul 1884. John Coop was likely the 25 year old son, born TN, of A. M. Coop. John Coop was married to Georgia Miller, who was Jim Miller's sister. Jim Miller was reportedly tried, convicted and then released on a technicality.
Jim Miller went on to become a killer for hire, claiming 51 victims before being lynched in Ada OK in 1909.
There is a lot of conflicting info floating around on his birth date and the exact years these events supposedly occured.
I would like to find a contemporary reference to these events to verify that these stories are not just hype credited to Miller in the 1909 press and endlessly repeated thereafter.
Any early (1870-1890) sources of information on these events will be greatly appreciated.
Pete
