C. D. Aston who came from Marion County Alabama in the 1840's to Cherokee County Texas. He had a daughter, Phebe Ann, also born in Alabama in 1845 or 1846. Another aughter, Martha D.,(my great grandmother) born 1852, died 1879 or 1880, married William F.Conner, (my great grandfather) on Dec. 23, 1874 in Cherokee County. Martha and William had a daughter named Mattie, (my grandmother) born 1879 in Cherokee County. One of C. D. Aston's sons and my great grandfather, James M. Aston, moved to Erath County prior to the 1880 Census. C.D. Aston died in 1879. His widow, Isabella, moved to Comanche County about 1890. She applied for a confederate pension in Comanche County in Mattie B. Conner and her Father (William F. Conner) were living with Isabella Aston (mother in law) in the 1880 Cherokee County Census.
Isabella was my Great Great Grandmother. She was already a widow in 1880 Cherokee Co. TX. Mattie's mother, Martha D. Aston, died between the time Mattie was born and the Census was taken, about 1879. William F. Conner and Martha D.
Aston were married on Dec. 23, 1874. C. D. Aston died in February 1879 (according to Isabella's confederate pension application). Isabella moved to Comanche
County. She applied for a pension in 1899 based on C. D. Aston's service record
