I will post an answer, but your query is several years old.

First of all Clyde L Quary was born 1 July 1899 in Missouri. He died 29 September 1968 in Crosbyton, Crosby County, Texas. His parents were L. C. Quary and Josie Turley. He is buried in Morton Memorial Cemetery in Cochran County, Texas. He was married to Myrtle Sarah Booker. They had seven children. If you get this message, let me know and I will give you the other information I have.

Marion K.
Re: Obit look-up needed from May 1941 in Morton, please

I cannot provide you with an obituary, but will information from his death certificate help? His death certificate has James Chrisopher Gibsona and Emily Walker as his parents. His full name is Johnnie Holbert Gipson. He was born 11 June 1874 and he died 17 May 1941. He is buried in Turkey, Hall County, Texas.

I did find an obituary for his son, Harold Norman Gipson. A picture is included in the obituary. Here is the URL:

http://www.lubbockonline.com/stories/051607/obi_051607047.sh...
Harold Norman Gipson

Harold Norman Gipson, 88, long-time gospel preacher and teacher at Sunset International Bible Institute, born in Estelline to West Texas pioneers, John Holbert Gipson and Mattie Pauline Hill Gipson, died in Lubbock May 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by wife, Annice Aline Teurman, and sons, Timothy Charles and Harold Don Gipson. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Sunset Church of Christ in Lubbock. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Norman Gipson Student Scholarship Fund, Sunset International Bible Institute, 3723 34th St, Lubbock, TX 79410.

From one of your queries I know you are familiar with the Hill family. On Mattie Gipson's death certificate it has her father as Albert Malone Hill and her mother as Emma Barbour. I noticed in one of your queries that you had Andrew Malone Hill.

Other children of John Holbert Gipson and Mattie Hill were Evelin Lewise Gipson who as born 1 Sept 1918 in Estelline and died 9 December 1918 in Estelline, Hall County.

Mary Emily Gipson Hall, born 2 Sepember 1869 in Tennessee and died 19 Jan 1923 in Spur, Dickens, Texas.

I also found the James C Gibson family on the 1880 census of Young County, Texas.

Mrs Lorene Parker signed the death certificate of Mattie Gipson.

Emily Lorene Gipson married Earl Clifford Parker. They had Emily Earlene, Ronald Lee, and Myra Evelyn.

I'm sure you have a lot of information.

Re: Shelby O Buck of Cochran County, KIA during WW2

Don't know, maybe not related, but,

Shelby Othello Buck, died before WWII started as a Canadian RAF pilot from West Texas. As a student at the University of Texas, prior to his departure for WWII service in the RAF, Shelby Othello Buck had been nominated for a Rhodes scholarship while enrolled as a student in the University of Texas in Austin, TX.

Prior to World War II, Shelby Othello Buck was a prospective all America football player for the University of Texas Longhorns. Shelby Othello Buck and his brother, John Quinn Buck, each boxed and defeated Max Baer during training bouts while US war efforts were delayed by political constraint. Buck was born in Crosby County, Crosbyton, TX.
See this reference for more info on Shelby Othello Buck of Crosbyton, Texas, from a history of the Texas Aggies:
http://books.google.com/books?id=Kav6qLQNhUkC&pg=PA222&a...

Shelby Othello Buck, from Crosbyton, Texas, played football on the University of Texas 'Longhorn' team, as a star-player, training, playing, and with the war in England, flying; -- he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Shelby died in the European WWII Theater as a navigator on a B-17 bomber, prior to Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. He is buried in Cambridge England. The early separation of the US from England's war didn’t allow US citizen combatants any direct ties to US support for individual efforts to stop German aggressions.

With the earliest signs of Germany’s European aggression, Shelby Othello Buck convinced one of his UT football coaches and 5 other Longhorn football players from UT to join him to enlist in the Royal Canadian Air Force prior to Pearl Harbor. During their flight training in Canada they played Canadian football in Ottawa, Canada -- the Roughriders! For more than 20 years, Shelby’s and his teammates have been enshrined with honors within the University of Texas athletic department.

Shelby Othello Buck's family came to Texas from the Jackson, Mississippi area to the South Plains of Texas (Buddy Holly's birthplace of rock and roll). Shelby had 6 brothers (four sisters). The boys were known as the 'Battling Bucks' from Crosbyton and Morton, Texas; see Lubbock Texas Avalanche Journal microfilm for source details. (www.lubbockonline.com) More background information is available thru searches for Monroe D. Anderson Foundation Houston, Anderson and Clayton Houston, Fulbright Jaworski Law firm Houston, Salk Institute and John Buck Company Foundation, Chicago.

Shelby's short life is historically notable for his heroic effort to stop German Nazi aggression. Several medical and educational foundations now exist from his single sacrifice ... Shelby's family continues to fight poverty, teach children and provide health care for the common man.

Response to inquiry
Hello all, i am trying to trace any relatives, or information on this airman that was killed serving with the USAAF during WW2. He was killed on the 30th May 1943 flying from the US training base at Atcham in England.

The only information i have is that he was a Flight Officer Shelby O Buck (T190615) and that he was from Cochran County, Texas. I would be really grateful for any information on this man if it is possible? Where was he from in Cochran County? Are there any family members still living there?

Thanks very much, Tom

I used to live in Morton,Tx from 1956-1962 and considered Paul Blanton one of my best friends. I would appreciate being contacted by Paul, or anyone who attended school with us between 1959-1962, when we were between the ages of six to nine years old.

Hey Cousin,
Just to let you know you can call Ralph Jr. at 1 806 229 2017 when he isnt online and get the info you seek on Ralph Sr. Also to let you know I have married Bonnie Lee Watford of Alabama and we have a baby girl named Brenna Jade Hensley born 13 August 2004. This should help expand on the Family Tree a little. Also at the Fort Benning Library I found military payroll records of the Hensleys going back to the War of Jenkins Ear and up to the War of 1812. Let me know if you need more info.
Signed
Sgt. Ralph Dean Hensley III
OIF Veteran , U.S.Army
His name is Blanton Gale (called Gale) by all the family. His Dad Houston (Charles Houston) and A were brothers.

My aunt Lucille(Dutch) moved with Pete, back to Morton from Lexington, OK in the late 1940's. They have seven children total. Pete farmed and Aunt Dutch started a second family of three boys in abt 1948-1953. Uncle Pete left farming and was driving a truck when he died in the mid 1950's leaving her to raise three very small boys. She died in Morton in 1972 and is buried along with the rest of the Embry's and uncle Pete in Morton. Would love to know the dates of Pete and the other Embry's.
Thank you
Janet
Sheba16J@aol.com

Bunny Solomon and I talked about this several years ago. Jiggs was the one who was taking something out of the hall closet when a 12 G shotgun fell and struck him in the chest. He was quite a big man and his tiny wife picked him up and put him inthe car and raced him to the ER but he was already dead. My father mourned this nephew for a month.
