Could someone in the Clyde area possible find a grave for me? Her name is Sallie (Sally?) CLAXTON Harrison. I don't know they date of death but she was born abt July 1875. Her husband Charlie S. Harrison is also buried there.
My email is genealogyinfo@aol.com Please help if someone has the time. I am willing to pay for your trouble and time, and/or do look ups in the Lubbock area if needed.

Several related families came to Callahan County from East Tennessee shortly before 1900. They are listed near each other on the 1900 census for Callahan County. I would like to hear from anyone who could help to "fill in the blanks" for me in my family research. My grandfather, Daniel Marion Neff, was listed as a boarder on the census with the Robert Renfrow family. I believe that he was actually related. I know that he was related to the Marion, Isaac, John Eli, and Caleb Neff. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Dyson faimly inheritance

We are related to Issac and Jesse Dyson. It is to my understanding that they acquired 4,428 acers in Callahan county through land grants. They also acquired 640 acers in Harrision county, and 177 acers in live oak. I understand that this occured on July 23,1861. They were killed however shortly thereafter by indians or Mexicans. In 1981 we made an attempt to find out more information about this subject. We recieved a few letters from a man named Al Dyson who claimed to be working on getting the land back. I also understand that the land is one of the richest oil bearing areas of the United States. If anyone has any information that could help me finding out more about this land situation it would greatly appreciated.

John ("Pickens") Calhoun Black, earlyt-mid 1800s

I would like to hear from descendants of Pickens Black and his wife Mary Latimer b. 1829 in Abbeville South Carolina USA. They had a daughter Mary Katherine Black b. 9 Jul 1856 in Shelby, ? Callahan County, Texas, USA. There seems to be some confusion about John "Pickens" Black as I understand there are two in Abbeville, South Carolina which is where he was born. One went to Texas which is the one I am querying on. However, I also show that he died in 1857 in Logansport, Iowa. There is a Pickens Black who md Ellen Johnson in 1866 in Abbeville, South Carolina -obviously can't be the same one or else dates are wrong. If anyone can clear up any of this information, I would appreciate it. This is a collateral line for me so I only have Latimer files available to share.

Does anyone know the full name of Dr. Griggs that "doctored" in Callahan Co in the 1930s and up to the late 1940s? I was a patient of his many times in the '30s. I remember one time when I was very sick, he came to our farm home in Rowden and lanced my ears. He saw me through many cases of pneumonia. I know at least one time, that I was a patient at the old 2 story hospital on what I believe to be Main St.? My mother Lillie Phillips died of cancer under his care in the hospital near the Court House in 1946.

Looking for this family's descendants listed below. I would love to find information on the children/grandchildren/great grandchildren of this family. Mandy Ellis was my great Aunt and I never knew her, but I feel close to her because my grandfather Jesse P. Gray loved her (his sister) so much. I have also mementoes to give you if you are a descendant of this family. The list below is all I know about them. They were in Callahan County TX in 1910 and 1920 Census records. I don't know where they went after that. Amanda died in 1927 so James B. Ellis may have married again and Reba Ellis might be from his 2nd marriage ??

Thank you in advance !!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
James B.

Sarah Martha HOLLEY, b1825 AL m William B. CAIN, b1820 Walker Co., AL. Her children settled in the area.

But I am looking for the elusive brither of Sarah Martha HOLLEY known as J.C. aka Uncle Jack HOLLEY. I believe this is the JC HOLLEY, b1820 AL who m Margaret, b1818 AL. These two and some descendants are buried in Cottonwood Cemetery, Callahan Co., TX. I believe Uncle Jack moved to Callahan Co shortly after the Civil War ended and lived there til his death in 1905.

I am trying to figure out who his parents where and hoping I can tie in with another researcher of this line. It sure is tough tracking somone when all you have is initials. But, I do have him on Callahan Co. census from 1880-1900. I have backtracked him to the 1850 Walker Co., AL census.

I found the Brigner family in the Cross Plains Cemetery record but wonder what happened to Isabelle Sarah Harshman Brigner the wife of Charles W. Brigner. She is not shown with other family members. All I have is that she died in Cross Plains. Does anyone know anything about her?
Is the date shown with Charles W. Brigner supposed to be a birth year? Charles was still alive in 1930. He was a digger of oil wells. Is anyone available to search for obituaries for this family? I have complete deathdates for some of them.
Any assistance will certainly be appreciated.

I am looking for information on my 2ggrandmother Dora Louise BREEDLOVE SHIPP (b. abt May 1856 in Bell County, TX). Family legend has it that Dora died in Albuquerque, NM in the 1960s at 100 years of age. The latest verifiable information I have been able to find on her, however, is a listing in the 1920 Federal Census for Callahan County, TX where she is living with Harry O. WALKER, her son-in-law. Harry married Dora's youngest daughter Jewel L. SHIPP (b. April 1897 in TX) sometime between 1910 and 1920, probably about 1915. I would appreciate any information on Dora and on Harry and Jewel and their children.

Pink, wife Carrie & their 8 children lived in Callahan Co., Texas in 1920 and 1930: Fannie, Oscar, L. C., Lucious L., Claude M., Opal L., P. W., Jr., & Billie. Their son, L. C. was buried in Belle Plaine Cem. in 1935. I am interested in any information I can find on this family.
Delores
