The Smith and Ethridge lineage is my husbands. I know Nancy Smith and Locky Smith married brothers Joseph and Willoughby. The Smith girls father was James Gibson Smith born 1780 in S.C. The Smith girls had a brother James Gibson Smith born April 6, 1817 died April 1902 in Oakalla.
They also had a brother named Watt Smith and other siblings. The problem I am having diffculty is which James Gibson Smith was known as "Dandy Jim" ? Any information would be wonderful. Thank you in advance Donna

Have you tried checking the obituary for the James who died in 1907? It may list his nickname in it.

We have corresponded in the past.. I am a g-g grandaughter of Watt W Smith who settled in Kempner, TX.. Dandy Jim was Watts brother who settled in Oakalla, TX .. Hope this helps. Susie Havins Stephen.

My name is Genna Smith Terry, I am the President of the "Smith Cemetery Association" in Oakalla. I just typed in James Gibson Smith to see what would come up and came across this. James Gibson was my great-great grandfather. His son James Elza is my great-grandfather and my grandfather's name is Hercial Hansford Smith or "Buck" as he was referred to. My father was Arthur Paul Smith and he passed away March of 2008. "Dandy Jim" was James Gibson Smith. Smith family still resides on the some of the original property in Oakalla. I live in Lampasas at the moment
I have done lots of research on the land in Oakalla, we are having legal issues with the current land owner that owns the property that we go through to get to the Cemetery.
