I am volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. On or about 22 Sept 1906, US Customs Inspector (called River Guard in newspaper) Frank CHAPMAN was shot and killed in Lajitas, Brewster county reportedly trying to apprehend smugglers. Fourteen men were arrested but unknown if anyone was charged. CHAPMAN was a Texas Ranger at in Dec 1880-Feb 1881. He reportedly was a gold prospector in Alaska. I am interested in any family history, date of birth, place of burial, law enforcement service etc.
