I am looking for information on the death of Laura Ann Allen. She was married to William Thomas Smith and went by the nick name of "Lou".

The information that I have is that she died on December 27, 1933. However, I can find no death record or obituary. The story we grew up with was that she had bent over to light a cigarette in the fireplace and fell in.

Will and Lou are buried (or at least there is a headstone) at New Hope Cemetery in the Bowie/Red River County area.

I believe she was the sister of Henrietta Allen that was married to Eli Burkhead and Richard Clem Tutt.

Rumor also has it that she may have been married before she and Will married. There may have been a son named Edward Charley Nichols or Charley Ed.. Nichols.

The children she had with Will are: Walter, Bertha, Mattie, Ollie (my grandmother), and William Aden Smith.
