Seeking info on Sam D Mooney b: 19 Jan 1880 Clifton TX who married Della Carr in 1921. I have a contract where M. B. Mooney (Sam Dad) agreed to look up info for a civil war widow (Elizabeth Wilson) for a civil war pension.

Hi Jerry,
On the 1880 census for Bosque County Sam had a brother Logan D. so I did a search for Logan, figured that name would produce fewer matches, and found the following. I hope this is helpful.

Thanks for the information. I had already looked up this info and tried J.L. Mooney address on the net. It doesn't work. My family is closely associated with the Mooney family but we have lost contact. I am trying to contact a present member of the family. Sam D. Mooney was a step father to my father through his second wife Della Carr, or as her name really is Idella.

Well, let me throw a whole new, and fascinating monkey wrench into this search.

My direct line is Meek BOYD, who I can only find in 1840 and 1850, then he dies in Dyer County, Tn.
Have no proof on how he ties in to any parents or siblings, so I occasionally type in "Meek BOYD" into google, to see what pops up, well today I get "Meek BOYD Mooney", so I decide to look at him. Well, lo and behold, he is from my Rutherford County, and THEN, in 1840 he is with his parent SAM Mooney next door to my Meek BOYD!!!!!
I will be searching this name hi and low- so please contact me directly to see if we match anything up-

I can not find the 1840 census you mentioned to compare data. I do have the 1850, 1860, and on up that I can follow. I am not sure we have the same person but glad to talk about it futher.

My connection is MEEK BOYD (not a Mooney) who is next door to Sam Mooney in 1840. It would seem your MB Mooney must be named after him, as he is next door to SAM in 1840.

Meek BOYD moved to Dyer county, which is next to Obion County.

There has to be some connection in the families, although it could just be a strong friendship.

Hello Jerry, I am James D. Mooney. Sam D. Mooney was my grandfather. Della Carr was his second wife. His first was Hattie Yancey. I have a fairly extensive genealogy on the Mooney side of my Family. I think that Elizabeth Wilson may have been related, a sister I think. I'll have to check on this. If I can help you, I'll be glad to.
