We are researching my wife's family and have traced her great-great grandmother Mary Jane (Roach) Davis to Bell County Texas.

Need assistance determining who David C. Davis and Mary Jane Roach parents were. Also need to know names of any siblings, witnesses to their marriage on Dec. 13, 1870 in Bell County Texas.

Anyone reseaching either family please contact thru this site.

My step-father, Roy B Davis's grandparents are David C Davis and Mary Jane Roach. My half-sister Rebecca has been searching for family from her father's side. We have all the history of our mother's side way back to the 1600's. Have you been able to find any further information?

Let me begin by saving that I do have quite a bit on D. C. Davis as well as on Mary Jane Roach. The Davis's are a direct lineage on my wife's side of the family.

To begin with do you know where D. C. and Mary are buried?
Do you have any facts pertaining to any indian heritage?

Let me know what you are most interested in and I'll see if I can help.

I've got Davis lineage back to at least to birth of D.C.'s mother in 1819. I'm pretty sure of his father's name and where he was born. As for Mary Jane Roach's lineage, I can trace it back as far as Alabama in early 1800s.

Everyone I've ever talked with or corresponded with says there is indian blood back there somewhere. I certainly haven't been able to prove it. The stories may come from the Guin side (D.C.'s mother's maiden name), but the most obvious connection there doen't past muster as he (Almond) was rejected by Dawes commission.

Took a quick look at my file data. I assume Roy B. Davis is Roy Brown Davis who died in 1981. I see where his wife was married at least three times. Is that correct? I assume the Rebecca you refer to was Roy & Betty Jean Ensley's daughter. Is that correct?

I believe David Carter Davis's parents were Young Davis and
Matilda May Guinn. I know Matilda (1819-1888) was definately his mother. D. C. appears to have been born in PPolk County, Tennessee. He had seven (7) brothers and sisters. The family finally moved to Bell County, Texas about the time of the end of the Civil War. His father apparently died somewhere in Texas prior to 1870 as Matilda appears in the 1870 Census as a widow with most of her children. D. C. and Mary J. also appear in that same Census as newly weds.

The eldest son of D. C. Davis's father was named Young Davis. Are you aware that the younger Young Davis was murdered in a Douglas, AZ cafe 1/13/1916? The trail is very interesting. Michael Conners was found not guilty by reason on insanity. He had been drunk as a skunk at the time of the shooting.

we have also heard that there is Indian heritage in the line, but my sister, who is a Davis has had trouble tracking it down. We do not have much history past Boss & Viola. Viola as well as her son David C (named after his grandfather) are buried in Coolidge, AZ. Another son, Roy is buried in Las Vegas (he was my step-father and my sister's father). I know that Becky, my sister would love to talk to you. Everyone that she knows on her Dad's side of the family are deceased, ands she would love to know thatr she still has family out there. On our Mom's side, we have traced our family back to Sweden back as far as early 1600's. I just finished a trio, my second one, to Sweden to visit with our cousins there. Becky knows too that she has a half brother named Johnny, but has no information about where he is. It is very important for her to find her family. My direct e-mail is
azgirl49@yahoo.com and my phone number is 520-705-1708. What state domyou live in?

Yes Rebecca is Roy B Davis's daughter and Roy did die in 1981 in Las Vegas where they lived from cancer. I had a different father than Becky. Our mother was Betty Jean Ensley, daughter of Clarence Ensley and Ruth Eriksson. Roy was the son of Boss Davis and Viola Webster. Viola is buried in Coolidge, AZ. She had another son they named David C Davis, after his grandfather. He too is buried in Coolidge with his wife.
I know that they had lived in TN, TX and ended up in AZ.
I did not know about the shooting. that is pretty interesting. It would be really nice if we could talk and share information. Becky probably has some of the info she gathered about the Indian heritage, I am pretty sure that Viola had the information at one time.
