David married Rebecca Harwick in 1863. His daughter, Mary was born in 1819 and would have been 44 at that time. John Walter (my gg grandfather) would have been 30. The 1860 (3 yrs prior to the marriage) census of Gonzales, Texas shows David with his wife, Rebecca, also born in NC. My question is were there two wives, each named Rebecca, each born in North Carolina?

Does anyone have any further information that would clear this up?

You have to be a little bit careful with these names. There were two David McFarlands in Mo. at the same time, yours was in Lincoln county - but the other, David who lived in Cooper, then Morgan, was married to Susan (ross is what I've been told). Both moved to Texas. It appears as though this second David lost his wife Susan between 1860 and 1870 and remarried - a woman named Rebecca. So it would be very easy to mix up the two families. This second David ended up in Grayson County Texas, and he never had a son named Walter. So if you see a David and Rebecca in Grayson, at least you know they aren't the ones you're looking for.

The son being Robert C. Springfield. Springfield is a complete mystery.

You indicated: "Another family tree identifies a Robert White, born in 1946 in Ohio, as son."

Can you provide the link to that family tree?

This Vera was born on 17 Feb 1903.

In this search, it may be possible that she never married a Springfield, The birth may have been as her own son at any time prior to her marriage to Charles Bobel. The Robert Springfield could have been an adopted son after 1940 Census. Robert could have changed his name from White to Springfield.

The 1910 Census of Vernon, Shiawassee County, Michigan
Elmer Coffey, age 27, born in Ohio to father born in West Virginia, mother in OH, telegraph operator
Grace (as transcribed), wife, age 23, born in Michigan
Vera, 6, born in Ohio
Thelma 4, OH
Elmer, 2, OH
Vivian, 1, OH
--In 1920, the family is found in Detroit, Michigan, Vera is 16 and shown now as born in Michigan.

There are enough posted family trees to get a flavor of her time, without having to copy them to "reconstruct." She is identified as marriage to Charles Bobel in about 1928 in Michigan or Ohio, marriage to Fred A. White, died 21 Feb 1974 in Largo, Pinellas Co, FL. Based on the obit, she appears to have lived in Toledo, OH (1940 Census as Mrs White) to 1972 (two years before her death in Largo, FL). The US Census does not offer a clue.

A Family tree identifies Vera had a daughter and son while married to White. I sent a message to the owner to the link to this thread, perhaps they can identify further information.
http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tex...

Another family tree identifies a Robert White, born in 1946 in Ohio, as son. But, he could have been a Springfield at that time.

Looking for leads on a Robert C. Springfield. He's listed in the attached obituary from 1974 as the son of Vera "Sue" (Coffey) White, residing in Beeville, TX. I know that Vera married Charles E. Bobel about 1928. She married Fred C. White in July 1938. I haven't been able to find any record of a marriage to a Springfield in between those dates, nor any record for the birth of Robert C. Springield. Vera's daughter with Charles Bobel only lived for 6 days after being born. Vera had another daughter with Fred White in 1941. I'm guessing that Robert Springfield was born between 1929 and 1937 Beyond that I'm completely stumped. Any leads on Robert Springfield residing in Beeville would be appreciated.

Daphne, please contact me if you are still interested in Nicy Davis. She and Jesse are my 3x grt. grandparents.
I have a little bit of info, and a few tantalizing and confusing bits of family gossip, but nothing absolutely concrete. I believe Nicy shows up on a later, 1870 San Antonio, Texas census, with several of her children, who do not appear with Jesse. On this census, her name is mis-entered as "Nancy" Davis. The oldest male listed in her household is her son John (John Henry, if he's ours,) Davis, age 22. It appears that they lived in a rooming house, with a family named Ashbury.
Do you have any idea whom any of the other Davis Children married? I know Susannah married John Swinney, and Samuel Chesley Davis, (my ancestor,) who married Berline Stacey, Feb. 2, 1866. Of the others, I have no clue.

Warm Regards, Teco

Afraid you'll have to be satisfied with a picture or etching of her headstone, if there is one. Texas mandated Vital Records 1903 but compliance with the law was sporadic for several decades thereafter. I've observed death certificates 1900-1915 but all were filed by medical personnel. I was born 1946 but my birth was filed as "delayed" two years later.

I'd like to find the death record for my great grandmother Laura Kelly Mitchell who died 8 Jun 1897 in or near Skidmore. She's buried in Madray/Allsup Cemetery. Does anyone know where death records may be? I haven't found any on familysearch.org from their Texas death records and it doesn't look like the county has them either. None found on Ancestry.
William, Comilla and John Boyce Miles are buried in Glenwood Cemetery (original section) in Beeville."
This is a note at the end of an article from a 1941 newspaper article, submitted by Doris Miles Setzer for publication by the South Texas Genealogical Society in Beeville (now inactive).
If you can find a copy of the Bee County Family History, published in 1992 by Curtis Media, there is a family story Doris submitted for that book. Turner, a veterinarian in Bee Co. They were not married, but Geneva may have married an Allen Sugarek soon after that, and gave birth to James Allen Sugarek on 11 Sept 1943. Geneva may have left Beeville area around 1945. Not sure if Doris Moreland went with her, or grew up in Beevile area.

Put "Hale" in the Search window and 49 documents will come up. The first one is a 3-page 3-generation report on Dolph Hale's family. Other documents include obituaries and other information on Dolph and his brother Duff Hale's families. I have contributed to that page for Bee County information, and published the quarterly for the South Texas Genealogical Society in Beeville for several years.
Kay Pacheco
dkpacheco@tx.rr.com
