I am searching for more information about Lou Vesta (Waddill) and William Hogue; and their children Ora M, Rufus, Florence, Ona, John H., Harmon, Lou Vesta (Lou Vista), and a baby boy born in 1910. The parents of Lou Vesta were Jerusha (Marlar) and James Meredith Waddill. James M. and "Jarusa" Waddill appear on the 1910 census for Baylor Co., ED 15. Also, Lou (Waddill) & William Hogue are listed in a separate household with their children in ED 15. (James and Jerusha Waddill are listed on the 1900 census, Chickasaw Nation, IT, (Silo, OK), ED 128. with their son Allen Marion Waddill, his wife, and baby son Lloyd N. Waddill. The Hogues were also listed in the Chickasaw Nation, IT, ED 145.) Lou Vesta (Waddill) Hogue was the sister of my great grandfather, Allen Marion Waddill. William Hogue's occupation in 1910 is listed as farmer. James Waddill's occupation is listed in both 1900 and 1910 as blacksmith. Lou Vesta and William Hogue's children are in the index for SALT PORK TO SIRLOIN: THE HISTORY OF
BAYLOR COUNTY, TEXAS FROM 1879 TO 1930, TEXT INDEX - SCHOOLS, SECTION X, A-J: Houge, Lou Vista page 193; PICTURE INDEX FOR SECTIONS ONE TO ELEVEN: Hogue, Ona page 84; Hogue, Rufus page 84.
Rufus Hogue, his wife and family appear on the 1920 census for Seymour, Baylor Co., TX, ED 15.

Any additional information about the WADDILL and HOGUE families in Baylor County, Seymour, Texas would be appreciated.
Looking for info on Emily (Blanchard) Berry. She was my great-great aunt. She was born 1859 in Missouri (I think) and she married David Marion Berry June 1881 in Ripley county, Missouri. The records I have found is that she died in Baylor, Texas. I am not familiar with Texas that much, so I'm not sure if it is Baylor county or Seymour. There was a Seymour in parenthesis so maybe I am in the wrong county.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rhonda

POW/MIA Korean War Baylor Co. KING

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Baylor County , Texas as his home of record.

Soldier: Bobby Ray King
Born: Jan. 31 1931, Caucasian
Date of loss: August 12, 1950. MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. There are 137 families in Texas that have not been located. There is one family from Baylor County that has not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (77 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I have heard through my grandfather, now deceased, that there is an Ausburn family Bible that was left in Vera, or Seymour, in early 1900's when his family moved to OK. It had lots of family birth, death, etc. records in it. Names would include Herbert Ausburn, George Washington Ausburn (possibly Osborn), George Floyd Ausburn, Franklin Pierce Ausburn. My great uncle said the Bible, with a depressed cross, was left with friends Bill and Maude Shipp in a "dug-out" along with photos, etc. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone has seen this Bible. I'm hoping it's with a family member?

Here's a mystery. An elderly friend of my family just passed away on Easter morning 2007. We were the only family he ever had. We are in the process of cleaning out his house and boy was he a packrat.
He was born 1913, his parents were murdered in 1914 and he went to live with a half brother(along with his other 2 brothers) In 1918 his half brother put him and his brothers in an orphanage, Buckner Children's Home. He lived there until he was 18 years old. I found a high school year book from 1939, Seymour High School in Seymour Texas. Here's where it gets tricky. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1940.......at age 27. Joined the Army in 1942, was discharged 1945, came to KY for some reason and got married in 1946. I saw his picture in the year book plus we found his diploma in a lock box in his bank. Anyone know how I can get my hands on some old Seymour High School records??? I have no clue where he was from age 18 til he went to high school in 1937 or 1938.

I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. Dallas Morning News (7, 10 Aug 1916) reported on the death of Baylor County Sheriff W L Ellis on 6 Aug 1916 by an escaping prisoner. Sheriff Ellis was buried in Seymour Cemetery. I am interested in the family history & any surviving family members so contact can be made for submission to state, sheriffs and national memorials.

As secretary/treasurer of the Round Timber Cemetery Association, I am trying to compile a scrapbook pertaining to the history of the Round Timber community and information on the people buried in the cemetery. This is the oldest community in Baylor County, established in 1874 with the first burial in the cemetery in 1877. The cemetery was designated as a State Historical Site in 1972.

I would appreciate any information or inquiries.

Betty Welch
Ainsworth roots

I have traced my paternal grandmother back to her birthpace of Seymour, Baylor county, Texas. Clara Alice Harris was born on April 28, 1882. (Her SS Form 3227 data was filed on Oct.24, l963. She was granted an Acct # of 570-72-1825). Her father was Alexander Ewing Harris and her mother was Amanda Elizabeth Daniels. She applied as Mrs. Clara A.Whitely, living at 1589 Tustin Ave, Costa Mesa, CA,92627.
In the 14th Federal Census John N (M?) Whiteley was listed as her husband, hig age was given as 31 and her age as 38. Hiram H. Ainsworth was listed as his stepson.Hiram's age is listed as 12. John lists himself as born in Texas, as where his father and mother. Clara lists herself as born in Texas, but her father was born in Florida and her mother in Georgia. Both John and Clara were employed by the telephone company, John as a line man and Clara as a telephone operator. Hiram was my father and never applied for a SS number (at least I have been unable to locate one) and has left no easily traceable trail! I was born in Phoenix Arizona on July 15, 1929 and my birth certicate list Hiram as my father. Any information on the above surnames associated with my line of Ainsworth's would be greatly appreciated.

Oddly, one of his sons, Henry O. Henson, was buried back in the vicinity of the family home in Tennessee in 1930.

Hi! I am hoping someone can help me with a death certificate or burial information. Laura E Lewis (Hampton), wife of William C Lewis, and mother of Ollie (Buck), Clemons, Elmer, Lillie, and John Lewis. She is buried in the Westover cemetary next to Ollie and Clemons. I am unsure if the John Wallace buried there is her John or not. She was born in 1865 and died 1918-according to the cemetary record. I am really hoping the death record might list parent information for Laura.

Thanks in advance if you can help.

Lisa

Could anyone look at Baylor Co marriage records for me? I am trying to determine if Lucinda Dugat & George Emory Truscott were married in Baylor Co. I believe they married about 1878. They are listed in the Baylor Co census in June 1880. By 1900 they are in Pottawatomie Co, OK and report that they have been married 22 years.

Alexander Pierce family

Looking for the Alexander / Alex Zander PIERCE and his sister Para Lee / Paralee PIERCE and their families. I do know that descendants live in the Wichita County area.

Alex Zander PIERCE b. March 13, 1886 in Akansas and d. April 25, 1967 in Wichita Co., TX, buried in Seymour, Baylor County, Texas. I suppose that he is buried next to his wife, Nora, and guessing that Nora died before 1967.

Alex PIERCE married Nora Jane LAIR. Nora was apparently first married to a Mr. HALEY and supposed to have had several children with Mr. Haley.

I have that Alex and Nora PIERCE married on April 11, 1911 possibly in the Hill, McLennan or Limestone County TX area. Alex and Nora had several girls and a boy named Buster PIERCE. Buster was killed at a fairly young age working on a oil rig.

Para Lee / Paralee PIERCE. She was also born in Arkansas probably in the Independence/Stone Co., area in the late 1880s or early 1890s. Believed to be the youngest child. She shows up on the 1900 Independence Co., AR census with her parents, but was not listed on the 1880 Stone Co., AR census. I also believe that Paralee's descendants live in the Wichita County area. I do not have any vitals on her, but may have married in the Hill, McLennan or Limestone Co., TX area between 1900 and 1910, as she does not show up with her parents on the 1910 Hill County Census.

Alex and Paralee Pierce are children of Franklin Marion PIERCE and Caroline FULLER. Father goes by Marion PIERCE. I know that F. M. and Caroline PIERCE had 12 children and by 1910 only 4 of their children were still living. 3 of their children and their families lived in Texas and one lived in Colorado. My gr gr grandfather is James Tyree Pierce a sibling to Alex and Paralee. James and his family lived in the Medina Co., TX area and is buried there.

I am willing to share and exchange

Renee Smelley
IRSmelley2@aol.com

North Texas Baptist College Convention, 1892, with some Baylor Co. significance

I went to the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where I found one rare item from the North Texas Baptist College: a booklet of minutes from a convention held in 1892, apparently to discuss the formation of the college. I was able to scan the booklet in its entirety, and is probably a very rare and one-of-a-kind item, and was practically falling apart.

Please use this link to download an Adobe Acrobat PDF file of the entire booklet (3 mb):

http://www.lexpages.com/genealogy/NorthTexasBaptCollegeConve...

OBITUARIES

I am interested in locating some obituaries from the Baylor County area. I contacted the library and they don't have the newspapers there. I telephoned the newspaper. They charge $10 an hour for someone to do their own look-ups and $24 an hour if you want someone to look them up for you. WOW!!!! I live over a thousand miles away, so I don't think I can go myself. I think even the $10 an hour is way too much, so asking someone to do the look-up for me isn't something I'm willing to do either. Is there anywhere else that might have the Baylor County newspaper for the mid 1940's? Someplace more reasonable then the local newspaper office? Does a larger city near there cover the Seymour deaths in their newspaper? Thank you for your help!

Howard/Vaughn

Looking for info about my g grandmother, Annie Lou Vaughn, who was born in Alabama. Her mother (Mary) married a man named Howard; they had 5 more children- Jack (who would marry Leona), Tom (short for Tomalina), Dick, Sybil, and Harry. At some time, they moved to Texas. Annie Lou went to school in Seymour, I havea picture of the class in front of the school, as well as one of downtown Seymour. Eventually she married Jimmie Eidson, my ggrandfather who is buried in Baylor county, though she is buried in Lela. I'm looking for any information on this family. Thank you for any help.

Edward Marek

I am looking for any information on Edward Mark as listed on the 1910 Census of Seymor, Baylor county, TX. I think I have located his wife, Vernoica, as being buried in Weimar but there is no indication where he is buried. In the obit it says he died in 1941 but does not say where.
I am trying to locate an Edward Marek born in 1878 or 1879 to a Frantisek Marek and wife, Anna Jakel in Burleson County, TX. Edward and his sister, Mary (born 1880) are listed on the 1880 Census for Burleson county and never appear again with the family. I am not certain if the Edward in Seymor, TX is the one I am looking for but need the info to either add or eliminate him from my search. If anyone recognizes any of the name please, get in touch with me.
