I am a volunteer researcher for the Texas Peace Officers Memorial. I am searching for information in regards to the death of Dr. J. R. GODLEY who was deputized by the Anderson County sheriff to arrest a man named J. R. SMITH for disturbing the peace in Fosterville. SMITH killed GODLEY with a shotgun. Information as to family history, place of burial or disposition of the case would be appreciated.
