I do not have a birth certificate or an obituary. The marriage record book states both of Robert's parents are unknown. His death certificate is signed by his second wife. His father is listed as unknown. For mother's maiden name there are two names on the line and it is hard to make out the first word. The first three letters spell Mar, but the last few letters are not that clear. It looks like it could be Marqutt or Marquet or Margret and then Hicks is the name after that.

It is unknown if that is a maiden surname and then a married surname or if it's a first name and a last name, or if the second wife did not know the mother's maiden name. If the mother's maiden name was Hicks, then did she marry a relative with the same last name or maybe she never married.
