My GGG Grandfather was Simon Butler born ca 1776 in either Tennessee or any other indian terrotory including Virginia and North Carolina. He later lived in Wayne, Whitley, and Pulaski counties Ky. According to his daughter's pension file information he was a half breed Cherokee indian , he died in Pulaski Co. Ky. ca 1868-69. I am looking for any place where I can get information on native american history within the areas stated above in or about 1776 forward. It is fairly apparent his mother was the white half and his father was indian. I am also searching for any place that may list the names of native americans who took an oath of alligence to the US in the early 1800's. Any help would be appreciated.
