BASKIN RESEARCHERS / CAVE CEMETERY NEAR LEBANON

Classification: Query
Surnames: BASKINS
I just heard from another Baskin researcher, that the land where Cave Cemetery(off 2314 HiWay & Vesta Rd.)is on private land. The new owner has fenced it off, & also the house that is next dr., so no one can get to the Cemetery. By Checking the name, the man owns land & buying up more, & shows no phone #. It appears to us, he wants to keep every one out & hoping we forget about this Cemetery.Possibly he will just clear it off, so it disappears. My husbands GGGrandfather, Robert McKinley Baskin was one of the men who helped buy this land for Cemetery. We have copy of Deed.

The Cemetery is in ruins, but still has some stones and the Archives in Lebanon list known names of burials. Robert M.
Baskin has been said to be buried here, along with Rachel Baskin, his wife. Their son in law, Drennon is here, so dau. Rachel is sure to be here also.

Does anyone know what could be done about tis situation? It would be terrible for this old historical cemetery, to be
bulldozed for progress!!!! Are there no laws to protect it
against people that don't respect the dead?

We live in TX, so not much we can do.
