I need help with EDWARDS
-- Happy <1803> , John <1820> , Charles <1816>
They are seen together on the 1850. Happy married William PATTERSON in 1823 and is assumed widow with her Patterson kids. John appears to have two children, Charles appears single.
Yes, Happy could be the mother of John and Charles but at this point I'm just trying to prove John and Charles are Edwards and not Edmonds as indexed in the 1850 census. In the summer of 2009 the image was totally clear (but I didn't print it out) and showed Charles as Edmonds and John and the kids, Anderson and Pheby, as Edwards. The enumerator didn't use ditto marks for Charles and John like he did on the rest of the page. If you blow the 1850 image up to 200% you can see the tails of the letters and the old-fashtioned "r" like the name of the enumerator (twice). Even the downstrokes from the "m" to the "w" are at a different angle.
There are no confirmed Edmonds in Wilson County on census until well into the 20th century and some of the marriages with that name probably aren't. John's daughter, Phoebe married Gideon Rideout under the name EDWARDS and there's a Charles A. Edwards (right age and state) in Montana in 1880 and then he dies. I can't trace his three kids far enough to find them.
It would be nice if this marriage record was for John and the mother who seems to have died before the 1850 census:
"Henry Edwards was the bondsman June 25, 1835 for the marriage of John Edwards and Jane Edwards."

I don't know who the parents of the three above are and don't really need them. They aren't my family. I just have to prove they are Edwards and not Edmonds. All help appreciated.
Thanks.
