My g-g-grandfather was Darling Jones, of Weakley County, TN. Census of 1850 shows him born in Wake County, NC. Have been trying for years to find out his fathers name. Darling was married to Margaret E. Miller. Both are buried in Greenfield, TN.

I would like to to know about your Darling Jones & Margaret Miller. Margaret was a sister to my Thomas Miller(3X great grandfather). If you need any of my info on the Miller's, I will be glad to share.

I am trying to find the parentage of James B. Jones. He was born and raised in Weakley Count, Tenn. Birthdate was around 1849. I see Darling and Margaret had a son named James who was the right age for my James. Do you know much about the family? I'm wondering if this is my James.

James B. Jones is my 3rd Gr. Grandfather. Apparently he ran away from home @ 14 yrs of age to join a confederate regiment he encountered in Mississippi.

He married Rebecca Dudley in 1872 in Weakley County. They ended up on Oklahoma where he died in 1936.

Have you tried getting the death cert from OK? I requested several in years past, it was fairly easy & I thought economical by mail. Parents names are often given (usually asked) on those. Did he have a Civil War Pension & or Widow's Pension? Those can be a wealth of info as well.
Good Luck in your search!

Thanks for the tips. I did get the death certificate, but unfortunately it does not mention his parents names. Apparently he applied for a civil war pension but I don't believe it was ever awarded. Do you know if parent names are included in the applications? Where ddo you obtain these records from?

Thanks again for your reply.

Hopefully this link will help! I have ordered 2 over the years but none recently.
Parents names were not included in those 2. Do you have any info on siblings?
Their death cert could have parents listed.

Thanks for the tips. You've given me some new ideas to try. Heading to Oklahoma in a week and hope to find some info there. Have a great day.
