Parents of Jane Hill Myers (1833-1914)

I am trying to find confirmation of the parents of Jane E. (East or maybe Easton) Hill, wife of Landsen Myers. Her marriage record doesn't list her parents. Her death certificate lists only her father as William Hill, but I have sufficient reason to believe that her father is John B. Hill from Ohio. Census records seem to support her father as being John B. Hill. It appears he moved back to Ohio several years before his death. Any information about the family would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi-
If anyone has access to the 1850 Census for Van Buren County, I would appreciate a look-up for James Claibourne PURCILLER, born August 1849, so he would have been around 1 year old at the time of this census. I have no names of parents or other information except that the parents were both born in Tennessee also. Thank you so much if you are able to help.
Debi

Looking for information on Sparkmans in White and Van Buren counties who are related to the Simmons families. I believe Tabitha Sparkman married Drury Simmons about 1829.

I believe the Simmons cemetery in White county has Frances Simmons listed as son of Drury Simmons and Rutha Sparkman.

The 1820 White co. census has several Sparkman families. A George Sparkman and family lives near James Simmons family as does a Martha Sparkman family. Both have daughters under 10.

James Simmons in 1850 Greene County Census

I am researching my husband's Mason line back to Tennessee. I found his ggg granddad Solomon Mason age 38 married to Elizabeth age 34 in the 1850 Greene County Census for Division 9. Listed in their household is a James Simmons 60, and their next door neighbor is a James Simmons age 30. Also one of Solomon and Elizabeth's children is named Martin Van Buren Mason.

I believe that James Simmons age 60 is Elizabeth and James age 30's dad. When I search his name and age I do not pull up anything for him. That includes the 1850 Greene County Tennessee Census.

I have seen family trees where Solomon's Elizabeth is identified as Elizabeth Cummins by a marriage record from Yates. However, if I am reading the listing for this record correctly the marriage was supposed to have taken place in KY or Elizabeth was OF KY. Solomon and Elizabeth must have been married in Tennessee for all their children to have been born in TN.

I am hoping someone here might have some information that would shed some light on this puzzle for me.

Any information on the Denney family line would be greatly appreicated. I am particularly interested in Adellor (Adella) Sparkman who married first Charles Denney and then his half brother James Preston Denney. They were both the sons of Preston Denney. One of Preston's daughers, Martha, married Blackstone O. Hillis.

Carolyn
William Mitchell b. VanBuren Co., moved to Hawkins Co., TN

I am searching for information on William Mitchell, i.e., dob, parents name, dod, etc. All the information that I have is that he was born in VanBuren Co., TN and later moved to Hawkins Co., TN, where his son, Willie Carter Mitchell was born on October 11, 1917. I do not know who William married. However, on Willie's death certificate it lists his father as William Mitchell and mother unknown.

We have been told by my father-in-law that Willie's mother died during childbirth and that his father, William remarried and he was raised by his step-mother. I was told by someone what her name was, but I didn't write it down. All I can remember is that William's 2nd wife's name was "Lide" I think it was short for Elizabeth.
Another family researcher has found pictures of William and in doing so found some pictures of a couple of girls one with the last name of Ingle (we believe that this could've been Willie's mother and Williams 1st wife) but we do not know for sure. It is also another possiblity that her maiden name couldv'e been Carter. (It was common practice to give a child the mother's maiden name as a middle name)

If any one can help, it would be much appreciated. William is my brick wall.

Thanks,
Jennifer Mitchell

Slatton Graves on Tandy's Knob

I have come across a small cemetery up on Tandy's Knob with about 6/7 graves. They are marked with stones but they are no longer ledgible. I have been told that they are Graves of Slatton's. There was also a log cabin that was 1/2 caved in across the bluff. The land went up for sale and was bought so I have no idea of knowing whether or not the cabin still stands.
I am interested in finding out whom lived there. The cabin had to have been built back in the 1800's due to the structure of how it was built. This land back in the 1800's belonged to my Great Great Grandfather Tandy Slatton and rumor has it that he was buried between his old homestead and the top of the knob. I do believe that I have located his grave sight but I think that these other graves just might be that of his father Edward. Anyone knowing anything about this mountain and the land and people please contact me or post a message. Tandy's Knob is part of the Bone Cave Mountains in Bone Cave.
John Porter, d 1831, bought land south of Caney Fork in 1812

If anyone is researching John Porter and his descendants, it would be wonderful to exchange information. John Porter and his wife Sarah or Sally moved to White County, TN about 1806. John Porter bought land south of the Caney Fork in 1812. I've not yet traced what happened to this land. Since it was south of the Caney Fork, maybe some land records and some descendants might have been in Van Buren County, TN. John and Sally had 11 children. I don't know how many of them were in the White, Van Buren, and Warren Counties area. Sally's maiden name is not known. It is known or believed that one daughter married George Yates, one son, Joshua, married Polly, maiden name unknown, and another son, Samuel, married an unknown lady. Polly seems to have been a nickname for Mary. Anthony Dibrell had some connection to John and Sally Porter, although it may have been only friendship. Any suggestions welcome!

Could someone help me find where Butt's Ford aka Molloy's Ford aka Porter's Ford is in the White-Van Buren area? The best I've done so far was find a place in Rutherford County called Butt's Ford... with even a Molloy Lane close by.

My interest is in John Porter, resident of White County, TN from 1811 through 1831. He seems to be the Porter whom Mr. Crouch referenced.

Was Mr. Crouch's book ever published? Do copies ever come available for sale? That seems a neat book.
