Thanks for the info. I hope that it will help me. I've searched the 1920's census records and cannot seem to find Will or Willie. Can you e-mail me a copy of the census that they are on. Is it the VanBuren Co. or Hawkins Co. census?
There are so many Will, Willie, & William Mitchell's out there.
Again, thanks for the help.

I am not sure who Captain Carter is but I would love to have a photo or photos of the old house (the carter place) that once stood at the end of this road. Also I would be curious to know who Captain Carter is.

Thanks,
June Schippers

Re: Marriage lookup for Frank or F. L. Rasco

Rutha or Ruthie Roberts was Frank L. Rascoe's second or perhaps third wife. His first wife was Martha Seamans who died about 1862. They had two children: Mary M. Rascoe and John Seamans Rascoe. The 1870 census of Van Buren County shows Frank's wife as B. E. Rascoe age 19. This could be the same person as Rutha Roberts Rascoe. Frank L. Rascoe married Rutha Roberts about 1870-71 and they had two daughters, Martha Rascoe born about 1872 and Florence born about 1875.

Frank Rascoe moved his second family to Warm Springs, Randolph County Arkansas sometimes before 1880. In the 1880 census of Randolph County, Ark F. L. Rascoe with his two daughters, Martha and Florence Rascoe are enumerated. F.L. Rascoe list himself as a widower but his wife Rutha is listed in the 1880 census of White County Tennessee as a cook in the household of A. C. Parker family.

I am not sure if Rutha when to Arkansas and then returned to Tennessee or just never went to Arkansas. The book, "The Uneven Yoke" implies that she went to Arkansas.

Frank had turned his two eldest children, Mary and John over to the care of his mother and eldest sister Mahala Rascoe when his first wife, Martha Seaman died and Mahala raised then untill they were grown.

Frank L. Rascoe is buried somewhere in Randolph County but I do not know in which cemetery or if his grave has a headstone. He died in 1885. Rutha Roberts Rascoe is buried in the old Roberts cemetery four miles north of Doyle, White County Tennessee. Her headstone reads "Rutha Rascoe,
wife of Frank Rascoe, 1850 - 1889"

The book "The Uneven Yoke" hints at some sort of scandal, sexual promiscuity or infidelity or family disapproval of the marriage surrounding the marriage of Frank and Rutha.
May have been the primary reason for moving to Arkansas and leaving the two elder children in Tennessee.

In th 1870 census for Scott Co. Missouri, Prudence Priest-36 born in Tn. Tilman, her husband, was not listed. She was listed with 4 children: Wm.-16, Mary-13, David-12, and George-6. All were born in Tenn. I know Prudence and Tilman were Married. Found their Marriage license dated July 30, 1853. Tilman was listed in the 1850 Tenn census-14, his Father was David 40, b. KY and Mother was Martha 40, b. VA.
In the same 1870 Scott Co. MO census Thomas 36, b.Tn was listed the family just prior to Prudence. He was staying with the family of W.C. Williams-43 b. Tenn and Elizabeth-36 b. Tenn.
I believe Thomas was related to Tilman some way. Tilman was considered a bushwacker and probably hid out while the census taker was there..Thomas and Tilman joined the confederate army at the same time, both captured and sent to Gratoit Prison in St. Louis. Thomas was later transferred to East coast for exchange..Thomas was my g-grandfather. The Scott co. census is the only time I found him after Civil War. I know he survived the war because my grandfather was born about 1872-73. I don't know where g-grandmother was in the 1870 census. She later showed up in Ripley Co.. Newspaper clipping said she came to take care of her sick son, Clairborne and was in the home of a McManus. He died and my G-grandmother, Elizabeth or Eliza took sick and died the following week in the same household.

There were 2 other boys, Wm. C, John Morgan (my grandfather).

One researcher thought that he being listed with the other Priest's in 1870 was probably just a coincidence. I don't believe in that kind of coincidence. I'm wanting info on him and Elizabeth, who was a Young.

If you have any other info on Tilmon, James Thomas, or Elizabeth I would tickled to death. E-mail me.

Harold Priest hpriest@midamerica.net

Thanks for your interest in my query.

I am trying to find confirmation of the parents of Jane E. (East or maybe Easton) Hill, wife of Landsen Myers. Her marriage record doesn't list her parents. Her death certificate lists only her father as William Hill, but I have sufficient reason to believe that her father is John B. Hill from Ohio. Census records seem to support her father as being John B. Hill. It appears he moved back to Ohio several years before his death. Any information about the family would be appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Wendy, I do have the following from another cousin on the marriage of my Drury Simmons to his second wife.
He married Marinda or Maranda Jane Myers/Moyers who was born in 1835. She was first married to Micajah Dotson Walker (Jan. 28, 1849, Van Buren Co. TN), then married a Mr. Griffin and then married Drury around 1872. Drury and Marinda had one child, Susan E. Simmons born January 17, 1873. This information was discovered in the land settlement after Drury's death.
Do you have any dates from the cemetery records? I have his death date as June 8, 1873 but I don't have a birth date. Does he have a marker?
Thanks so much for responding...Susan

I descended from James Francis Marion Crelia's son Alvin J Crelia's son Willie Marion 'Bill' Crelia (my Grandfather) and Roxie Jewel (Sellers) Crelia (living) my grandmother's son Paul Justus Crelia(living) is my dad. My father had 2 brothers Alvin (Al) Curtis Crelia(dead), Billy Duane Crelia(dead), and 4 sisters Mamie Sue 'Suzie' Crelia (dead), Allie Marie 'Ree Ree' Crelia (living), Patricia 'Pat' (Crelia) Stuckey (living), and Thadene 'Deene' (crelia) Hall (living). If you are interested in Bill Crelia's grandchildren let me know I have all the names and great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
I was wondering if you know why they changed the name from Creeley to Crelia and what nationality they were originally. I am trying to find out where we came from. There is not any information in my family further back than 'Bill' Crelia's father all the rest I have pieced of the internet. Thank you any info you have I would love to read.
-Hannah (crelia) tumlison
