Nita,

Your husband is my grandmothers first cousin. If I did the math right. William Perry Erwin was my grandmother's father. Which makes your husbands mother, his sister. Minnie and Nora.
My grandmother is deceased now since 96, and all William's kids have since passed. Few remain from this side, but I figured I'd let you know family still roams around Tenn.. LOL. William Perry Sr. had 6 children total. Lucille, Mabe Ruth, Juanita, William Perry Jr, Gwendolyn and Mary Jean. I know Mabe Ruth had 3 daughters, my grandmother Gwendolyn had 1 child my mother Vicki and Mary Jean had one son named Steven.
I do have a family tree on here of some pictures of my family and one of William Perry as a child. William was killed in a car accident in the 40's. My grandmother was 18 at the time when it happened.

Have you checked this site? They have the death certificate image for Estelle and the marriage lic. image for Jesse and Estelle. They also have the image for William H. Galligher and Sarah L. Pennel. They are under the archives for Shelby County. Also, under property records, there's documents for Jesse and Estelle. Hope this helps.

I am an immediate decendant of the " Craig " family who lived in Reverie. I have just found out this information and trying to see if you have any history of any decendants in the " Craig " line or anyone who may have lived in the area during 1930 to present.

Did Samuel and Louisa Jackson have a daughter Mary Francis McClanahan who moved to Trousdale are and wed 1866 Thomas Jefferson Carman. She had 3 sons Richard, John Franklin, and William Thomas.

She only lived 1847-1871 and died in the Smith Co tn area buried there also. LoRass8@aol.com

Robert S. Crafford (Crawford) and Lavina

I am seeking information on Robert S. Crafford(Crawford). He married Lavina Roberts (we don't know her maidend name), and in the 1850 census for District 4, Tipton County, they were living with their 3 children and her 3 children from a previous marriage. In the 1860 census, Lavina and two of the Crafford(Crawford) children are found living with her daughter and her husband in District 5.

We do not know where Robert was in the 1860 census, or where he was before the 1850 census.

Any help would be appreciated!

I performed a search for Peete and Tipton on the message boards. I am researching my Peete ancestry and they were from Tipton county area in TN. I would be interested in finding out if the Peetes in the book are African American and if they are related to me. I tried to locate the book at amazon and borders.com but I was unsuccessful. Sorry, I don't know. This isn't my family line. I did notice on McKnatt/Hamby marriage lic. they both made an X for signature. The A.S. McKnatt stands for Allen Samuel McKnatt,a brother.

I looked at the marriage notice for McKnatt/Jackson and they didn't have to sign, so I don't know if they made an X or wrote their own names. Did you find one with a signature?

There is a death certificate for James W. McKnatt. It list his wife as Mary Ellen. His father is William and his mother is Mary Ellen? The reporting person is Charles A. McKnatt. I can't find a marriage lic. for James and Mary Hamby.

There is also a death certificate for Walter and a marriage lic.

James McKnatt, b. about 1851 in Mississippi, married 1st to Fannie Mae Jackson on July 28, 1878. On the 1880 Tipton County Census they had child J.W. born 1879. I know that James McKnatt had two other sons with Fannie Jackson and they were Walter Ernest McKnatt, b. 1886 and Samuel Mitchell McKnatt, b. 1889. James married a second...did he marry Mary Ellen Hamby. If anyone knows if this is the same James W. McKnatt that was married to Mary Ellen Hamby and had son Charles A. McKnatt. Hi! Looking for more information and other family members for Andrew Tadlock b about 1791 and d 1856. He married a Margaret unknown Maiden name although possibly Bateman from sons middle name and Margaret Bateman 9 and Mary Bateman 8 were living with them in 1850. The 1840 and 1850 censuses shows them located in Covington, Tipton, Tennessee. My great grandfather was Carter Tadlock who was born in Kentucky in 1836 and died in Texas in 1885. He married Amanda Newton in His daughter Katie married my Paternal grandfather Jasper Patterson. She died after childbirth (despite dc saying cancer - my Dad said Dr wasn't clean) in 1913. Carter & Amanda lived in Hays or Rusk county Texas and Amanda married a Haggard then lived in Granite, Greer, Oklahoma d 1919. See "Gerry's Family Tree"

I did find Andrew Jackson Hathcock on the census with his son Henry. I also found Sebron as well. But I am not to sure if Sebron is the father of Andrew. Still researching that. My tree is located on Ancestry. Irene Hathcock is my GG-Grandmother. My mom's grandmother. Henry was Irene's father. I posted pictures of Irene, but do not have any as of yet for Henry. I also posted the only picture I had of Richard Carrel, also known as RC.
These pictures were given to me by my grandmother Gwendolyn, Irenes daughter.
I am in contact with my second cousin, my moms first cousin for pictures. His mother gave him a ton of family pictures, so I am trying to see if any are of the Hathcocks.
If you want Irene and Richards picture they are on Ancestry or I can send them to you. I have pictures of all of Irenes children as well.

Dennis was born 1808 in NC and was in Tipton between 1832 and 1840. I was eliminating wills to find his parents and am at a crossroads now. He married Anna Burnett. Dennis then moved to Lamar County, Tx by 1850. Do you by any chance have a Dennis among your records? Leonard Smith was my last hope.

I Leonard Smith of the County of Tipton and State of Tennessee do make and publish this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made.

1st I direct that my body be intered decently in a manner suited to my condition in life and as to such worldly estate or goode as it hath pleased God to instrust me with I dispose of the same as follows.

2nd I direct that all my just debts & funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as possible out of my property in money that may be on hand.

3rd Please appoint my sons Moses Smith and Augustus Smith Executors to this my last Will and Testament and it is my wish that they settle up my estate as soon after my decease as possible.

Susannah Holmes. She was born on 10 Oct 1788 in Rowan Co, NC. She died on 06 May 1844 in Tipton Co, TN. Burial in A.W. Smith Cemetery, Tipton Co, TN.

Leonard Smith Jr. and Susannah Holmes. They were married on 02 May 1805 in Rowan Co, NC. They had 8 children.

i. Alexander Smith. He was born 1805. He died 1835.

2. ii. Moses Smith. He was born on 12 Apr 1811. He married Polly Huffman. They were married on 19 Aug 1830 in Rowan Co, NC. He died on 16 Oct 1865.

3. iii. Elizabeth Smith. She was born 1813. She married Peter S. Miller. They were married Abt. 1831.

iv. Charles Smith. He was born 1817.

4. v. Sarah W. Smith. She was born on 01 Jan 1820. She married Edmund Strange. They were married Abt. 1838 in Tipton Co, TN. She died 1885.

5. vi. Jerusha Dare Smith. She was born 1821. She married Alexander Walk. They were married Abt. 1837 in Tipton Co, TN. She died 1901.

6. vii. Augustus Washington Smith. He was born on 17 Nov 1824 in NC. He married Mary E. Yarbro. They were married on 02 Oct 1845 in Tipton Co, TN. He died on 01 Jun 1908 in Robertson, Tennessee, USA.

7. viii. Leonard Brantlin Smith. He was born Feb 1827 in Davidson Co, NC. He married Caroline Bowers. They were married on 04 Oct 1848 in Tipton Co, TN. He died on 13 Jun 1903 in Tipton County, TN. Burial in Bethel Cemetery, Tipton Co.

I am the daughter of John David Walker. His mother was Effie Mae Smith Walker. She had a sister named Ellen who married a Townsend. Effie and Ellens parents were David Calvin Smith and Martha Louella Ewell Smith. I believe this is the same line. If you think it might be, Please respond.

From what i read in my research on Tipton County there was a fire and some early marriages were lost. I needed them and am at a stand still on my Smith line because of it. Hope this helps. Only partials of some were salvaged but it now starts at 1840.

You may want to check this site. I found several documentations there. I'm not sure if the Henry C. Dacus is your line but I posted it anyway. It looks like the family lived in Tipton Co., Brighton, etc. and came in to Shelby County, Millington, and Memphis.

A lot of my ancestors lived in Reverie, TN on Island 35 in the Mississippi River... My mom and aunt both have a book written by a family member - Memories of Island 35 by Gladys Byford Turner. This book is out of print, it was published at a small publishing company in Memphis, TN called Castle Books, which no longer exists, in 1987. I, and some of my relatives, would like to get copies of this book, and the only way I guess we can get them is buying them from someone who owns a copy.

Does anyone have a copy of Memories of Island 35 that they would be willing to sell?

Mr. Billy told me a few months ago, that the library has a copy of the cemetery list. I don't use the library in T. County, so I don't know if that is Covinton. You might be able to sent money to get them to copy and send it.

Hi, Rob. This is an old post, so I hope that this reaches you.

The information that I have for Thomas Anderson Pinner are that he was born in 1970 and died 2 February 1939. He married Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Roark on 29 December 1889 in Tipton County, Tennessee. Mary Roark was born in 1870 and died in 1958.

I do have some Boswells in my family tree. Mary (May) Matilda Billings (my great-grandmother's sister. My great-grandmother's name was Lucy Billings Phillips.) married John Columbus Boswell on 07 Aug 1892 in Covington, Tipton County, Tennessee. Mary Billings was born 06 Jun 1871 in Tipton County, Tennessee and died 19 Jul 1945. John Boswell was born 09 Oct 1858 in Tipton County, Tennessee and died 02 Mar 1902 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. They had 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter: David Boswell, Pink Boswell and Leona Estelle Boswell (B. 11 Feb 1895 and died 06 May 1953). She married Dan Tucker before 1914. Mary Billings Boswell had a second husband, W.P. Tucker and were married after 1902 (don't have the date).

in your research of the Dycus Family of Tipton Co. have you come across a Martha Ann Dycus who married James Wesley Smith on Feb. 26, 1888? In 1910 they lived in Wynne, Cross, Arkansas and then moved to St. Francis County in Arkansas.
