Searching for proof that REUBEN PREWITT/PREUETT was our ancestor. Reuben Prewitt was born ca 1760 in King & Queen Co., VA, served in the Rev. War, and moved to Sumner Co., TN, in 1797. He was on the 1840 census living with Silas Preuett and Silas was administrator of Reuben's estate when he died in 1842.

Reuben may have married a Frances Alexander. A daughter, Mary (Polly) Preuett, b. 1799, m. in Sumner Co. in 1817 to John Bryns. She died in 1846.

We believe Silas Preuett (1790-1856) was a son of Reuben. The family lived in the Cairo area of Sumner Co.
