I'm a candidate for the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).

In order to qualify, I need some specific information regarding my ancestor, John West, who died in Sumner County, TN in Feb. 1854. His son Thomas continued to live there for several years until moving to Missouri.

Anyway, John filed an Amended Declaration for Revolutionary War benefits on March 13, 1851 in Sumner County. I have a transcript of this claim but need an authenticated copy.

The hearing for the claim was presided over by a Justice of the Peace named Robert Dorris and witnessed by 2 local clergymen named Nathaniel Parker and William W. Ausbrooks. Character witnesses at the meeting were James Taylor, James Rippy, and Thomas Freeland (John's Father-in-law).

I'm assuming the document is on file there locally. It would mean a great deal to me and my sons if you could just check into this a little and let me know what you find.

Thanks very much for your kindness,

Lee Plume
