Classification: Query
Surnames: Owens, Ivey, Welch
C. J. Owens was born in Smith County Tennessee in 1810. He died in the Civil War in 1862 and is buried at the National Cemetery in Knoxville. He fought on the Union Side along with his son, Boston. He is my ancestor, but I can't seem to find his parents. I believe his Dad was Samuel Owens since he was the only Owens in the 1810 Census of Tennessee. Can anyone help me validate the ancestors of C. J. Owens? C. J. married Nancy Ivey and one of their children, Isaiah was my great grandfather. He married Mary Jane Welch and they had 17 children. One of Isaiah and Mary Jane's children was Issac David who was a twin with Jacob Campbell. Issac was my grandfather. Issac married Mary Elizabeth Orick and their oldest son (one of ten) was my Dad...Orbin Clinton.
Any ideas on how to narrow down the field of ancestors. I think Samuel Swan Owens, Sr. was C. J.'s Dad, and I think William Owens was C. J.'s grandfather and Joseph was his great grandfather. Now, how do I go about proving all this?
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
