I am seeking information about an ancestor, George Washington Webb. He was born on August 2, 1920, birthplace and parents unknown. He married on June 11, 1845 in Shelby Tennessee. His wife was Henrietta Jane Owens of South Carolina. George was a confederate veteran and later emigrated to Texas, had one son, James Howard Webb, and died on May 2, 1898. George's mother's birthplace is listed as Scotland, I think both his parents were Scottish immigrants, since there's so little information on them. I am seeking ANY info about George Washington Webb, his early life, whether he had siblings. He must have lived in Shelby County Tennessee at some point, since the records show he married there. Hi Heather, I'm researching this line, too. George W. Webb is my husband's great grandfather. I have not seen the marriage record. Would you be willing to share that? Also, I wondered where you saw that George's mother was born in Scotland. The only thing I have seen is the 1880 census in Montague County, Texas, which says his father was born in North Carolina and mother in South Carolina.
