A quick check showed two females last name Steele, but no first name given born in the time frame you mention.
female Steele b. 8-15-1876 father-L. C. Steele Mother- R. Steele.

female Steele b. 10-4-1877 father- T. Steele mother- Mrs. Steele

In the death records I found 5 last names Steele in the 1877-1879 range.
One was C. L. Steele (similar to father above) who died 9-11-1878 age 34, born England.
