This was posted in our local newspaper...does this soldier sound familiar to anyone? I've attached both pages of the letter.
http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2009/oct/08/soldiers-le... Collierville has a World War II mystery on its hands after the discovery of a soldier’s letter in the attic of a former church.

About two weeks ago, workers renovating the building known as the White Church at Main and
Poplar discovered a letter in the attic sent by a soldier in 1941 from
Fort Wheeler,
Ga., said Diana
Dubois, a planner for the town.
Dated Nov. 14, 1941, the tattered letter includes a thank you to “dear friends” for candy that was much better than military-issue cooking.
The signature includes the last name “Hart,” and a first initial that appears to be M or W,
Dubois said.
After checking with local families named
Hart, the author of the letter remains a mystery, she said.
Anyone who might help solve the mystery is asked to call her at the town’s Development Department at (901) 457-2360.
The town is beginning renovations of the donated church, which was the Collierville Christian Church before it began serving other uses, to eventually serve as the
Bess Crawford Morton White Church Museum of Collierville History.
