GEORGE MILLARD, SR. – Rites for Businessman to be at 12:30 Today – Services for George Owen MILLARD, Sr. of 30 Eastland, will be at 12:30 p.m. today in Memphis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park. Mr. Millard died at his home at 11:40 p.m. Sunday after a heart attack. He was 73 years old. Mr. Millard had been active in Memphis business since 1922. At the time of his death he was credit manager of Southern Textile & Supply Co., a firm with which he had been associated 10 years. He was also secretary/treasurer of U.S. Properties, Inc, the firm he became connected with in 1922 when it was U.S. Bedding Co. A lifelong Memphian, Mr. Millard had been a member of Chelsea Avenue Presbyterian Church since 1905. He was an elder and treasurer there. Mr. Millard was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of Scottish Rite and the Credit Men’s Association. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Jewele Freeman Millard; their son, George Owen MILLARD Jr. of 3078 Dewitt Cove, and daughter, Mrs. Jerry L. Moore of 1185 Eright; a son, O. Kenneth MILLARD Jr. of Germantown and a daughter, Mrs. Blenda Jane Avignone of Flushing, NY, both by a former marriage; his brother, the Rev. John MILLARD of 1138 North McLean; and seven grandchildren. (Published in the Commercial Appeal 7-13-1965)
