Hi rkpruitt1, I've been looking at this Thomas H. Wilson as my Great Grandfather, he eventually went to MO & AR. I also believed that John B. was his brother, not his father; I had it figured that their father was Jas Wilson (James ??) that was living next door in the census of 1860. My question is are you certain this Thomas is indeed the son of John B? I've not been able to nail anything down so I'm certainly wondering if I have been looking up the worng tree. My gr-grandfather was Thomas H. Wilson born in 1842, TN, and this is the gentleman I really had it narrowed down to...I know that his father was born in VA as the Jas which is living next door in 1860...does any of that make sense? I am anxiously waiting for your response here in Indiana...I'd love to compare notes as this is my major brick wall...thanks so much. Donald Wilson, Sullivan Indiana

Hi,
Old cemetery was located 1 1/2 miles south of Murfressboro. Over two thousand bodies were removed from the old cemetery to the Confederate Circle. According to the Dec.7,1867 edition of the Murfreesboro Monitor. On Jan.28,1882 the Nashville Banner published a list of men whose names appeared on wooden markers. The Circle of Heroes
has a monument with all the names on the it. It has a state
marker to represent each southern state.
Hope this helps. Sandy

Sandy. I was researching the Webb family( John F Webb b-1822
married Sarah C Landrum b1823) when I ran across your post.
Oddly enough their daughter Cynthia O Webb married my G-Grandfather whos older brother was also killed in the battle of Stones River.
No idea if this will help but he served in Company D, 24th Tennessee Infantry.
Could you tell me more about the "Circle of Hero's" might be my ancestor is buried there too.
Stamp 91

I am looking for any information anyone might have on Thomas H. Wilson. He was married to Eliza Vaughn. They lived in the Eagleville area and are buried in a cemetery not far from the High School there. They had but one child, Lula. She married David Prewitt (Pruitt). Thomas is my great, great grandfather. I know that his father was John B. Wilson. But I have not had any luck on either connecting them with the Williamson County Wilsons or going any further back to see if they are kin to the early settlers of Tennessee. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mrs Stockard shared much about the family or Bethels first pastor and has more info about his father who stayed in London. My great grandfather was in the Civil War and fought in Murfreesboro. In 1865 He took Rev McGowan's grandaughter to Ky for a wedding. With a little help, we can put some exciting peices of history together. 21 of his unit were missing in Murfreesboro. Fortunately he made it to Mississippi befor his enlistment ran out and he came home.
Thanks for the offer. Some of my family will be coming down soon to check out the church and cemetary. We are only 30 miles away in Mt Juliet.

When I asked her about Hopkins she sais it rang a bell. She looked on her Tombston list and it was not there but she knew she had seen it. She looj at the Rutherford count death cirtificates and found Jasper Hopkins, b 1849, d Dec 3 1918 and buried in Bethel cemetary (probably no headstone) whose parents were Samuel and Sallie Hopkins..You can prob. find same info at www.tngenweb.org Good Luck

I, too, am looking for my Rutherford County Thompsons, and I'm wondering about the John Thompson mentioned in the document you posted.

My John Thompson married Rebecca Thompson (cousins? or coincidence?) in Rutherford County in October 1836, the same year your Sarah married Thomas Harris. John was born in Tennessee in 1814, and Rebecca in Kentucky in 1815. They died within a year of each other in Pickens County, Alabama -- Rebecca in 1867 and John in 1868, which appears to be about the same time your George Thompson died.

John and Rebecca were in Rutherford County in 1840, but by 1850 they were in Alabama.

Perhaps we can tie these three Thompson families together.

----Juli

I don't have any additional information concerning this Richard Standridge. My ancestor Henry Burns was in Marshall County, Alabama, in 1850 census. In his household was 80 year-old Nancy Standridge who appears to be Henry's mother-in-law. I'm just looking at several possibilities for Nancy Standridge's husband. I thought that someone might connect with the Richard of Rutherford County, Tennessee, and could help me determine if Nancy could be his widow. Thanks for your response.
Jo Ann

Connie,
I believe that Giles Collins Mullins and Collins are one and the same. The one who stayed in VA is not her son I don't think. Some places I see a Coleman as their son but doubt that too. I am not sure about the 'Oney" being their child either. Joanna was suppose to have come to TN with her six grown children. Oney would have made it 7. Some of the researchers think that "Oney" was Joanna herself. We can find no records of the death of Joanna Terry Mullins or any court proceedings with her name. Thomas named a daughter Joanna in 1842, the date of Oney's death. He was the administrator of Oney's estate. How could a spinster in that day have had all the property of Oney.
Yes, Giles Collins Mullins was married March 16,1803 to Jincey Crenshaw and they had several children: Christian, Thomas, John, Elizabeth, Anna and Jonah I believe. These names are taken from the Settlement of his Estate. Christian is my ggg-grandmother.
Edmund was married toLucinda Couch and had at least one daughter, Mary. Edmund died in 1817 while in New Orleans fighting with Andrew Jackson.
Joan
We do know that he had a son named Jordan or Jordon (we have seen it spelled both ways). We have never seen the name of Jordan/Jordan mentioned anywhere else in our Marshall family search. Could it be possible that our William Marshall married a lady in the Jordan family and named one of his sons using the mother's maiden name? Please let me know if this possible.

I know VA and the Carolina's used to have Tennessee as part of them, but don't know the exact dates.
I've checked all four counties for a marriage, only one doesn't have them online, they have a volunteer but I haven't heard back from them yet.
does anyone know the early Higgins/Higens/Higgen/Higgin etc family in the Rutherford Co. area?

I contacted the Bethel church on Sulphar Springs road about a month ago looking for Jasper Hopkins. The lady I talked to was very helpful but said she had no records of any Hopkins ever being buried there. She did say that there had been a fire that distroyed some of the records. She also said the person would've had to have been a member of the church to have been buried there, and there was no membership records for any Hopkins either. She contacted the church historian for me also. The historian is a descendant of the founder of the church, and has grown up in the church. She doesn't recall any Hopkins in the church or cemetery either. I also walked every inch of the graveyard and came up with nothing. There are alot of broken or missing stones though. The lady I spoke with said there is also a little graveyard across the road that the founding father and some of the early members of the church are buried in, but I did not find any Hopkins.
By the way Elaine, thanks for responding to my query on Jasper. I emailed you! Kim Hopkins

I believe Drury Bishop is the father of my ancestor Odey Bishop. Odey (Odiah?) was a witness to Joseph Bishop's 1802 will. I found an 1855 Graves Co., KY death record for an "O. Wagoner", a daughter of "D & E Bishop"; she is shown to have been born in South Carolina. These are the only two written clues I have to her ancestry. Do you have a marriage record for Drury Bishop? I would be interested to know what the records you have show. Drury Bishop had at least one son and his name was Joseph. I believe Odey married George Waggoner. Thank you so much for any info you can share.
Bes tof luck with them.

I'd love to hear what your line knows about how Ira W. Fields is kin to the Rutherford
Co TN children of Richard Fields born ca Jan 1787 NC??????????? I had assumed Ira
was a son of Richard, until 2 days ago I saw the 1860 us census copied below, from
Wilson Co. TN

at
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=AHN&d...
--
there I posted a hypothetical ancestry of Ira W Fields as first cousin of the
Rutherford Co TN Fields, apparently leading back to Onslow Co. NC because of the
1860 Wilson Co TN US census of Brice W Fields aged 73 born NC in Ira W Fields
family:
------------------------
Brice W Fields
Age in 1860:
73
Birth Year:
abt 1787
Birthplace:
North Carolina
Home in 1860:
District 23, Wilson, Tennessee
Gender:
Male
Post Office:
Gladeville
Value of real estate:
View Image
Household Members:
Name
Age
Ira W Fields
42
Caroline Fields
35
John B Fields
16
Greenbury Fields
13
Ann Fields
11
Lubebria C Fields
9
Lucenia S Fields
7
William E Fields
5
MO T Fields
3
Brice W Fields
73
Elizabeth Fields
25
Source Citation: Year: 1860; Census Place: District 23, Wilson, Tennessee;
Roll: M653_1280; Page: 451; Image: 411.

==============================
===============================
then on the Onslow Co NC 1810 US Census: Brice Fields living alone aged ca 21-25

the 1800 US census of Onslow Co NC has only one Fields with any boy ca aged 13
to be possibly Brice Fields born ca Jan 1787 NC
--and that family, Moses Fields has two boys aged 10-15 who could possibly be, not
only the above Brice Fields, but also the Rutherford Co TN Richard Fields born also
about Jan 1787 NC.

The following ancestry posted on above web site is a preliminary hypothesis calling
for oodles more confirmations or rejections, but it's far better hypothesis than I've
come up with in my 20 years of trying: most importantly it's such a definite
hypothesis, that it'll be easy to gather further pro-and-con documentary
evidence to deepen our understanding.

1.
