Cave Creek area of Roane County

I am looking for information on Hans Limburg and his family who lived in the Cave Creek area of Roane County in the mid to late 1800's He was born in Germany. I have information that he married Margaret Allen in Roane County in 1867. Also that he was in the civil war from Aug 1863 - Aug 1865 (information lists him as having enlisted at Cave Creek). I have seen several variations on the spelling of his name. He moved to Loudon County at some time in the late 1800's to early 1900's and is buried there.

Also looking for information on the Tinnel family who lived in the same area.

I am a Tinnel researcher. I am also interested in the Limburg family. My great Aunt Cynthia Bowman married Richard Christie Limburg in 1899 in Roane Co. He is listed in census records as being born in Germany. Willing to share. Brenda

Glad to hear from you. We have the Tinnels and Limburgs in common. Please contact me via e-mail so that we may share information at lynnjml123@aol.com. Look forward to hearing from you. I am related to Hans Limburg. Francis Leland Tinnel was my great-grandfather. Both were from Roane County, although Hans was born in Germany. Don't worry if I don't answer right away. I probably won't have time to view my e-mail until next weekend.

There are several Limburgs buried in Allen Cemetery #1 in Roane County. I was there recently and these graves have flags, flowers etc placed on them fairly regularly.

Where is Allen Cemetery #1 in Roane County? I have visited Poplar Springs Cemetery where some Limburgs are buried. It seems like I remember turning off Gallahar Road to get there. There was a church with the cemetery. I am originally from Loudon County, so I know a little about the area.

From the intersection of Interstate 40 and Gallaher Road, travel south on Gallaher Road until it deadends into Highway 70. Turn left and travel on Highway 70 for about 2.7 miles and turn Right onto New Midway Road. Travel on new midway road for about 2.2 miles and turn right onto a gravel road that takes you to the cemetery. The "gravel road" leading to the cemetery is overgrown and easy to miss. We had to stop for directions. Close to Midway road there is a little patch that kinda looks like it was once gravel. It is just a short distance and there is a gate with an angel on top.
The angel is by the trees. You can see the gate from the road. The first time we went we parked close to Midway Rd and my hubby walked up to see if that was it. A wild boar charged out of the bushes toward him. Luckily he was more scared of my hubby. We went back later to put my gr grandfathers headstone back up. We pulled our van onto the "gravel" road, but the ground was dry and hard. I wouldn't recommed it after a rain. There isn't a church there anymore, the closest one is New Midway Baptist

Please e-mail me at lynnjml123@aol.com. My Tinnel family also was married to Limburgs (Roane Co) I believe that my great-grandfather and your great-grandfather may have been brothers, and both married Limburgs. Several of the Tinnels went to Washington state. Some stayed, and some came back to Tennessee

Sorry to take so long to get back to you on the Tinnel/Limburg connections. My computer is down right now and I am unable to get to the information at this time. I am praying it will be back in running condition early next week and I will be able to share what I have on these two families. Thanks. Brenda
