Have some ancestors that lived in Roane Co., TN prior to 1842. One marriage that is quite a puzzle is one between Edgecomb Suggett "Suck" Marriott and his wife Hettie. Hettie is said to be at least half Cherokee Indian.
The first son not named for Edgecomb's family is William Looney Marriott. I believe Looney is a surname and could be a possible clue as to Hettie's ancestry.

I am sorry I accidently put the wrong name for "old" Edgecomb who was married to Hetti. The only name known for him is Edgecomb
