I, too, am interested in this same information. I am descended from John Farley (b. approx. 1859) through his son John Howard Farley.
From what I can tell, the records from Putnam county were destroyed in a fire in 1899, and so any marriage certificates, death certificates and birth certificates appear to be gone. I do not think, however, that John Farley was from Putnam county. At:

You can see that "Howard" Farley (son of Adline and John) shows that Adline was born in Putnam, Tennessee, whereas John is listed as being from "Tennessee." I'm wondering if John was born elsewhere in Tennessee, and that could be why he is a challenge to track down.
