I am looking for the grave of my 3rd great grandfather.Joseph V.West. He died in around Monroe County a town called Tarriffivlle. Last known date of him is in the 1890's.He married an Elizabeth Taylor in the 1890's also. He was in the 59th Tenn. Mounted Infantry of the civil war. I found the marriage record. It says they got married June 1, 1889 in Blount County, TN. I have not found them on any census. Since they got married in Blount County, TN. that may be a good place to start searching.

Try Monroe County. I found where J.V. West's Civil War application is #1506 and Elizabeth's widow application is #4558.

They were in Monroe County at the time of his death. You can get a copy of the applications from the Tennessee State Library. It may contain a location of his burial.

I thank you for information that you have contributed. I have all that and have looked over the widows pension and his pension for any clues. The only clue that was in his was that he was in a small area (post office)Tarriffville was where he was living this in the late 1890's. This is part of Monroe County. I would have thought this was where he would be buried in this area.I have checked all the cemeteries in that area that I know of and could find on line. The widows pension had several letters of neighbors writing letters on her behalf. The next door neighbor was a sister in law that married Joseph V.West's brother. I wanted to find his brother and possibly where he was buried. But nothing there.I keep getting good clues but brick walls spring up.
