Trying to locate names of father & mother of Jasper Lafayette Raper from Pickens Co., GA. Jasper was married Feb. 20, 1866 to Mary Lovina Goble and had a son approx. Dec. 23, 1866 named John Ruben \ Rubin \ (Raper) who died approx. Sept. 28, 1913 in the Ocoee River, Polk Co., TN. Available info indicates Jasper Lafayette Raper left Pickens shortly after the birth of John in Dec. 1866, moved to White Co., TN., remarried and raised a large family there. I can't locate any records showing parents of Jasper Lafayette Raper born approx. 1846 in Gilmer Co. GA. Help?????

I am the gggg granddaughter of Jacob & Elizabeth Gray Raper. Their daughter, Elizabeth, married George Burns Feb. 14, 1818 in Blount County TN. George bought a farm in about 5 miles east of Madisonville, TN. He lived there until 1848 when his family moved to Bradley County TN. He and Elizabeth Raper Burns then moved to Whitfield County GA where they died within a week of each other in 1868. They are buried in the Old Swamp Creek Cemetary. Their son, William T. (Billy) Burns moved to Polk County TN in the 1870's. Do we have any connections?

Darla: Thanks for the response, however, I don't have any data that would make these connections. Since my original post I have found data that my gggrandfather was John W. Jasper Raper, b. NC and moved to Gilmer Co., GA. died there in 1860 and is buried at Ball Creek Cem. His wife that was supposedly my gggrandmother, Subra (Sabra) Jane Raper is shown in the 1850 & 1860 Gilmer Coo. GA census with her two sons. I have not been able to confirm a legal document connection between them. Still looking. I may have to start chasing the Burns rabbits as my youngest daughter married a Burns from Valdosta, GA two years ago.

Preston, not to my knowledge but anything is a possibility in with anyone named Raper with ancestors from the NC & GA area. Those names don't appear in my family research that I've done to date.

I have a good story about Fate Raper that my grandfather told several times, and I would like to trade info with anyone following the Raper lines!
