Anyone have any info on this Tempy BUGG below on the census?
Tempy shows as sister-in-law and Commodore as a nephew.
Now it would seem to me Mollie HIGGS would be Tempy BUGG's sister. Now it also looks like Commodore is Tempy's son and if so was Tempy married to a BUGG? or was Commodore out of wedlock.
I need help with this HIGGS and BUGG line.

According to research from a member of the Benton Co. Tenn. Genealogical Society, John BAKER married Sarah Elizabeth BRITT. They lived for a while in Benton Co. TN. Some of their children were:

Henry Baker (a.k.a. Tom Stanley)
Laura Ellen Baker b. 1860
James Lafayette Baker b. 1864 in Perry Co., d. 1931

I am interested in finding out more about this BRITT family, as well as the BAKER family. I have seen some research that shows an Elizabeth BRITT as the daughter of Anderson Smith BRITT and Mary Wilkes, who married an unknown BAKER. I am trying to establish whether or not my Sarah Elizabeth BRITT is one and the same as the Elizabeth BRITT, daughter of Anderson Smith BRITT.

In the 1860 census Perry CO, Michael French, 26, born 1834, is listed as Franch instead of French. Nothing unusual about that since you find the name spelled all kinds of ways. BUT....also in that census is a Mahaffin (unusual name) Franch living with a Skaggs, listed as 78, born 1782. Is this another French?? If so, who did she belong to and where did she come from? Would love some opinions on this, if anyone has the time to take a look.

His wife was Lizzie (maiden name unknown), they had 3 children Elmer (my grandfather), Maggie, and Ennis. Addie was born 1878, Lizzie was born 1880. I'm looking for marriage details about the marriages of Lucy Benton to Dempsey Brittenum and Sarah Raymond Benton to Robert Addison Bigger.

Luch and Sarah were both born in North Carolina and moved to TN with their father about 1828. Dempsey Brittenum was also from NC and enumerated in Perry County TN. I believe that Robert Bigger was born in TN but I don't know where.

I am seeking info on the ancestors of my gfather Joseph Ezekiel (J.E.) Harden who was born 3/21/1892 in Perry County, TN. J.E. died on 7/03/1983 in Gibson County to which he had moved sometime around 1919. He married Lillie Mae Kelley, daughter of Jefferson Davis Kelley. They lived while in Perry County in the New Era, Bee Creek area. The only thing that I know about J.E.'s parents are the names and approximate years of death. His dad was John Harden who died around 1895 and his mother was Alice (Elizabeth) Ashley Harden who died around 1900. They were both supposedly born in Perry County and are assumed to have been buried there. But no one knows where. J.E. knew very little about his parents because they died when he was so young. Any info about his parents, gparents and etc. will be appreciated.

I don't know anything more except that Argie was born in 1880 so I'm guessing John was born near the same time. Argie remarried and had first child with second husband only about 4 years after Riley was born. I'm told that John passed away when Riley was young.

Seeking the death date and place of burial of Martha Shelton Bates, wife of John Whitfield Bates and probably daughter of Flavius Josephus Shelton and Lucy Ann Dodson Shelton. In 1860, 1870, 1880 F.J. and Lucy Ann Shelton are in Perry County.

J.W. Bates and Martha Shelton were married in 1879 in Perry County, but were living in Hickman County in 1920. John Whitfield Bates was in the home of his daughter Gertie (Mrs. Jim) Tate in 1930 in Hickman county. Martha must have died between 1920 and 1930 and could have died in Hickman or Perry Counties.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have information about Shelton, Bates or Dodson families.

I have personal letters that tell what a wonderful person Naomi was written by an Aunt. She and her brother Samuel Bart Walker lived with my great grandparents Elizabeth H Lancaster b 13 Dec. 1813 SC and Thompson Wright b 1806 Tn. Naomi had a daughter and a son. The daughter's name is Malinda E Bandy. We wonder if our great grandmother was first married to a Mr. Walker or if Naomi and Samuel Bart became part of their family under other circumstances. They wrote letters "dear Mother" and Malinda writes "dear Grandma". If anyone has the slightest clue, I would love to hear from you. Also I always enjoy sharing any information that I have. Does anyone have a picture of Rev. Pleasant Whitwell, 1803-1875? Or a Bible record or other record with all of his children's full names and complete birthdates? He was a well known Primitive Baptist preacher and was also the county clerk for Perry County for many years. One of his sons was Judge Thomas Whitwell. His other sons were Reuben, Elijah Houson (killed at battle of Franklin in Civil War) John A. and Pleasant W. His daughters were Martha who married Carroll Ward and Mary J. Pleasant Whitwell has nearly 1600 known descendants. Often Family Bibles and pictures seem to be found among female descendants.

EVANS, William, b. 1825, married Emmaline Craig, and had the following children: James Howard Evans (B. 1856, married Fredona DePriest in Perry County), Tom Evans and George Evans (possibly more children). Came to Perry County via the Tennessee River on flatboat--don't know from where. There is another Evans in Perry County at the same time--presume, but not for sure, that they are brothers (I believe his name is Thomas Evans). Looking for information on his parents (or Emmaline's), and where from, etc. Believe they lived in the Marsh Creek area of Perry County.

I'm seeking information on the Griffin family, headed by Rueben Griffin, born abt 1804, in North Carolina. I am related through his son James Griffin, by his daughter Martha Roena Griffin Kersey, she is my grandmother. I haven't searched as much as I should but have been unable to find Rueben Griffin's parents, and the area in NC, that they came from. If any one could help with this I would appreciate it, and if you know additional information on James Griffin, I would be thankful too. I think he was in the Confederate army during the Civil War, but haven't been able to place him in any unit.

I have a family, James and Mary (Keiger) Wilson, who had a son named William C Wilson born in Perry co., April 10, 1828. I have been able to trace this family onwards to Missouri (arrived in MO about 1833 ) and found some info on the 1880 goodspeed for Stoddard Missouri.

Here is where I am stuck and unsure where to look.

Mary Keiger (Kiger) was the daughter of Peter Kiger and Sarah Last Name Unknown of Robertson county TN. In 1820 Mary's father died and her portion of her father's estate was drawn by James Wilson. If I am correct then this would mean that Mary and James were already married.

At the estate sale, there was no mention of a Wilson purchasing anything nor have I been successful in finding what was done with Mary's portion of the land...

Can someone tell me where I might dig to perhaps find any documents pertaining to Mary and her life in Perry co.

Thomas (before 1759) also fought in the revolutionary war.

The Cates migrated to Tennessee and then some came to Texas.

The Atwoods had probably lived in Homer for less than 10 years when he died (moved from Iowa). Any help would be very greatly appreciated. Hi, My name is Wally Caviness of Bellingham, Washington and I will visting the Linden, Perry Co.TN in Oct.looking for either homesteads or grave sites for my Little and Evans Families.
David W. Evans b. 1812 married Virgina Jane Tucker.b. 1835. They had eight children. Lankford Gordon Evans married a Manerva Jane Dabbs, who's father Nathaniel Dabbs was one of the first settlers around Marsh Creek.

John T. Little Sr. b. 1811 married Nancy T. Hickey b. 1813.
They also had eight children. My line is thru Issac b. 1832-1864 the oldest.

Some of the Littles and Evans intermarried like Isaac's daughter Franrcis to Richard Allen Evans.
Most of the Little family moved to Clay Co. AR.
Some off the Evans family to the Greene Co. AR.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Karnes & Son Funeral Home in Dyer, with Dr. R.J. Wesley and the Rev. Tommie Bullock officiating. Burial will follow in Good Hope Cemetery near Dyer.

Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5-8 p.m.

She was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Perry County, daughter of the late James Frank and Dixie Horner. She was the widow of Elmer Mercer and was a member of Dyer United Methodist Church.

Survivors also include two daughters and her son-in-law, Eva Lee and Bob Holmes of Memphis and Jo Bowles of Trenton; her daughter-in-law, Polly Mercer of Union City; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Lincoln Coleman of Linden, Marie Coleman of Trenton and Venia Lazenby of Nashville.

FM and Nancy Anderson family of Perry Co. 1870

Because of the quality of old census records, my ancestors last name was misread by who ever transcribed the 1870 Perry Co. census which is online. Their last name is Anderson- not Andrew's. If anyone has information on this family, please contact me. This family is a new find for me. I have been searching for my ancestor Francis Victory Anderson's parents for years. I found them finally in Raines Co., Texas in the 1880 census. Francis was born in TN however. Now that I had names for her parents and siblings I searched and found them in Perry Co. in 1870. I have no idea who FM or Nancys parents were. Any help would be appreciated. Here is the information that I have on my family members from the census records-
FM Anderson- Born 1833 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
Nancy Anderson- Born 1837 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
Lydia Anderson- 1860 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
Francis V. Anderson- April 28, 1861 (this is her actual birth year, census records are off a few years);
Lucinda J. Anderson- 1866 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
John J. Anderson- 1869 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
William H. Anderson- 1873 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
Martha A. Anderson- 1876 (+/- 1 year) in TN;
Emma L. Anderson- 1878 (+/- 1 year) in TN.

Francis V. married Calvin P. Mays (another brick wall for me). They raised their family in Kaufman County, Texas and are buried in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry, Kaufman Co., TX. Francis death certificate only listed her mothers name as Mrs. FM Anderson. That is the only documentation that I have.

My ancestor is Jehu B Baker b 1821 d 1878, who married Andrew Nix's neice, Malinda around 1850. Malinda, b 1831 d 1910 was born of Warren Nix (son of Moses Nix) in Perry County, but she and Jehu settled and farmed in Humphries County.

He was the son of Daniel Rickman, and the grandson of John and Susanna Rickman of Bedford later Marshall County, Tenn.. His military record contains virtually no information about him. Searching for the parents of my 3rd great grandfather George W. Shipman who was born in Tennessee about 1815. Later married Matilda Brown (b. 1826 AL) and had seven children, most born in Texas. The only Shipman surnames that I have found on the 1820 TN census are Isaac Shipman (p. 6) and Jacob Shipman (p.7) in Perry County. According to the census, both Isaac and Jacob had sons who would have been the same age as George. Any info on Isaac and/or Jacob Shipman would be appreciated greatly. Thanks.

I am searching for information on Thomas C French born ca 1844 . His mother was Martha ------ French born ca 1810-1814. They were found on the 1860 Perry Co TN Census.
In 1870 Thomas C French is married to N C Unknown and has 2 daughters, C M French born 1867 Maga L French born 1869.
His mother, Martha, is living with here also.

I believe Thomas C French's father was named John and they were connected to a Michael French--Can anyone help me ?

I am searching for information on and descendants of Catherine Graham born @1826 probably Lewis Co. married Martin Robinson October 11,1842 had one child Mary A. born @ 1849. She also married unknown Flowers. Francis J. Graham born abt. 1828 married William Langham @ 1845 had one child Nancy P. who married Jacob A. Howell Nov. 11,1872 in Perry Co. Tn. Catherine and Francis are the daughters of Thomas and Rosannah Graham of Lewis and Perry Co. In 1860 Catherine is still listed in the home of her father.Missing is her husband Martin and daughter Mary.
I would like to make contact with any one researching these families.

I live in Missouri and have a cousin that lives in Linden, Tn. Her trailer recently burnt to the ground and they lost everything that they had to their name. Along with her children's baby pictures. She works everyday and is trying to make it. They had no insurance on their home. If any one down there has an old moble home or something that they can help out with it would be great they are homeless. Please pass this on.
