Jasper Daniel “J.D.” Reed, 91, of Union City died May 14, 2008, at Union City Manor Nursing Home. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chip Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Troy’s Terrace Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be his nephews and his nieces’ husbands. Scott Hudgins will be an honorary pallbearer. The family requests that memorials be made to Lake Road Baptist Church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
He was born April 30, 1917, in Obion County, son of the late Isaac and Ola Pearl Reed. He married the former Margarette Bell in 1952. She died July 8, 1995. He was a retired employee of Ford Motor Co. in Michigan, where he worked for 11 years, and was a member of Lake Road Baptist Church. Survivors include his son, James Daniel Reed of Mansfield, Ohio; his grandson, Mark Daniel Reed of Tipp, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, three brothers and five sisters.
