I am researching my Maddox family ancestry and have reason to believe that one of my ancestors was a member of the Echota Cherokee tribe.

About 1820 a woman named Linnie married one Thomas Moore in Bedford county Tennessee. They had four daughters: Martha, Sallie, Frances and Lucinda. Linnie is my great-great-great grandmother.

There have been comments over the years that the family had some Indian ancestry but it was never established. Recently we found a Maddox descendent who says she has information that Linnie might have been of the Echota Cherokee tribe.

I will appreciate any information anyone might have.

Does anyone have information on this Joseph Moore? He moved from Virginia to TN in the early 1880's and married a lady who's last name was Hunt. They had a son named R. Hunt Moore who lived in Paris, TN around 1914. Hunt either had a sister named Lottie or was married to someone with that name. Hunt liked to bird hunt (no pun intended) according to a letter from Lottie written in 1914. At that time Hunt Moore worked for "Paris Ice Cream and Bottling Works", owned by Mr. J. P. Haynes.

I am searching for any one that might have known George Moore first married to Lillian Wood then married Maude wood. George & Lillian were my grandparents.Maude & George were married August 19 1908. In TN.If any one has any knowledge of this family please let me know. My mother died when I was 3 years old so I know nothing about her family.

My grandfather, John Edmond MOORE, was born in Egypt, Shelby Co, TN about 1875. From the 1920 Logan Co, WV census, he claimed his father was born in Mississippi and his mother, Tennessee. John married Fannie E MATTHEWS in Alexandria, VA about May 28, 1906. At that time, he was a railroad YMCA secretary, lived in Monroe, VA and listed his parents as James E & Maggie MOORE. Mr. MOORE left his wife and 5 children in a coal town in WV about 1921. He was later found to be living in Portsmouth, OH with a woman name Lillian Selby RICE by my father. It took 20 years of research to get this little bit of information. I have a photograph of my grandfather from about 1900 with his best friend, Jim COLE. Mr. COLE apparently ran a trucking company in Memphis. He was married to a lady named Evelyn. Any information on James E. & Maggie MOORE would be appreciated.

James Ambrose Norris Shot And Killed

Our elusive ancestor, James Ambrose Norris (aka Joel A. Norris, aka Joe Norris), was shot and killed in Lincoln County in October of 1849 - this according to the Mortality Index attached to the 1850 Lincoln County Census. We have been unable to find any news of his demise. I have searched court records, local genealogists, libraries, LDS, newspapers, cemeteries, etc. and have found no other news. John L. married Nancy Jane Partin. They lived in Giles Co. in 1860 and then disappear. John L. signed a document along with all his siblings in Moore Co. in 1878. He lived until about 1900.
