According to the 1850 census, William Green and wife "Tamer" Green are living in McMinn Co. with 6 children. I believe their daughter, Mary Jane, b. 1845, is my second great grandmother who married Elisha Scott, b. 1842, of Roane Co. Two houses down from William on the 1850 census, is Rufus Green and wife Amy Bledsoe Green with 3 children. Rufus may be William's younger brother. In 1860, William and Tamar (mispelled Hammer by WPA transcriptionists) are in Monroe Co. Rufus is in McMinn in 1850, 1860, 1870, in Meigs in 1880, and back in McMinn in 1900. William & Rufus may have brothers: John, Jacob, and Thomas (in Meigs 1850). These Greens originally came from Virginia. Any information on these people would be greatly appreciated.
