I am trying to find the parents of John Wesley TAYLOR, born Jan 1857 in TN. John married Emma ROAN 21 Jan 1880 in Hunt Co., TX. She was born Jan 1861 in TN.

I have no idea who the parents of John and Emma were. I looked at male Taylors who would be about the right age to be John's parents, and I found Martha and John W. Taylor, 30, born TN, in the 1860 Maury Co. census, and they had a son, John W., age 3, which would be the right year for the John I am trying to find. I also found some information on one of the Genforum web pages that indicated both Taylors and Roans moved to Hunt Co., TX from Maury and Giles Co., TN.

I am hoping someone has some information on these TAYLOR and ROAN families and that they will share with me. My son-in-law is a descendant of this couple. I will be happy to share what little I have. Please contact me at clarksha@swbell.net

Sharon, I am married to a decendant of a John Wesley Taylor who was born May 19, 1818 in Tennessee (probably Williamson County). At age 70, he fathered a son, John Wesley (Josh) Taylor in 1852. The John Taylor you mention was born in January 1857. As records go, this still may be your John Taylor.

Josh Taylor's parents were John Wesley Taylor (b. 1818, d. 1890) and Letitia (Letty) Givens (b. 1824, d. 1864). They were married February 17, 1837 in Williamson County, Tennessee.

Our John married three times. 1st wife-Letty Givens (10 children), 2nd wife- Martha Ann Orman Prichard (4 children), 3rd wife-Martha Hutcherson(Hutcheson/Hutchinson)-
(6 children). A total of 20 children by 3 wives.

Maybe this will be helpful although all the birthdate of your John does not match John (Josh) Taylor.
