I am searching for information on Jonathan Graves, who received North Carolina land grant #437 in what later became Marshall Co., Tennessee. The land grant was located near Wilson's Creek. I assume that Jonathan received the land grant for his service to North Carolina during the Revolutionary War.

I have an ancestor, Susanna Graves, who married Brig. Gen. Joseph Martin. One of their sons, Thomas W. Martin, settled in the Marshall County area of Tennessee. Susanna had a brother named John. I have no information on him, but their father was William Graves. You might check the Henry County, VA, area to see if this is your line.

Thanks! I'll definitely followup on that. I'm trying to find the father of my 3rd g-grandfather, Samuel Graves. He was born about 1772, in North Carolina. He married Ellen Wilson, daughter of James M. Wilson. They all ended up in Marshall Co area by 1800....EVHH
