I am seeking obituaries and Bible records of members of the Maget family in Knox County. I have surprising amounts of information about individual Magets, but I am having trouble identifying parents of individuals and establishing family groups.

I descend from Martha Taylor, who married William B.? Maget in 1806 in Knox County. Their daughter Elizabeth Maget married Joseph Harvey Evans in 1804 in Knox County, and the couple eventually settled in souther Iowa. Elizabeth had two brothers who settled in western Missouri. Elizabeth might have had more siblings or half-siblings in Tennessee. I find records of many Magets but I am not sure how to link them.

Both my Evans and Maget families lived in or around Strawberry Plains. Any help appreciated.

JM at 11mitchell@mchsi.com

(site: http://register.shelby.tn.us/index.php) There might be an obituary in a local paper that might have more info about family, burial, etc. I hope that this helps and if you need further assistance please let me know.

Robert Love of Revolutionary War fame but have only tenuous evidence to support this link. Robert Asa was laid to rest in McMinn county on 25 AUG 1890. If anyone has any info please write. So the family definitely had some roots in Knox County.

Anyone have info on Noah, his daughter Isabella who had William as an illegitimate son with a man named Samuel Monday?

Joseph Price 1879-?

Joseph J. Price was born in January 1879 in Knoxville, Tennessee. His parents are Thomas Rees Price and Ann (Annie) Maria Richards. Both Thomas and Annie were born in Pennsylvania. Thomas and Annie also had a daughter, Mary, who married Benjamin F. Orr in Knoxville in 1905. Joseph went to the University of Tennessee, I believe. He was listed as a former fraternity member, though I cannot remember which one at the moment. After his father died in 1906, Joseph continued to work in the furniture company (Knoxville Furniture Company). In the 1910 census Joseph (or Joe) was still living with his mother. I am not sure when, but between 1913-1920 Joseph left Knoxville. The story my father told me was that Joe had left to escape running the family business. He headed west and only contacted his family a couple of times later. There also is the possibility that he changed his name. Can anyone help me find Joseph? There are several pictures of him on my genealogy blog, which is listed in my profile.

My records show they were married Jan. 1, 1844 in Dekalb Co. AL. Shows that Elizabeth was from Newberry Dist, SC. I only have her year of birth, 1813, no dates. Who was her father in law, if you know? I see she had 6 children by her first husband, Brooks???. Why they were in Dekalb Co. had to be because James had relatives there, I guess. James had settled in Palmetto, just above Reform in 1830s along with other Pratts. He was a farmer with 600 acres of land.

Hi,
I'm glad I got a responce from a Brook. I see where she had children before she married James, so I figured she was married to a Brooks. I've got my family tree all the way to my grandson, if you need it.

Sorry it took me so long to reply. I am trying to find some records I lost, my family files are a mess.

I have a 1920 census record from Civil District 5, Knox Co, TN. head of household - Charlie Webster (my g-grandfather), wife - Lizzie. At the end, there is a listing for Harvey Taylor, relationship - father, age 83, birthplace - Virginia. I think Harvey is Lizzie's father rather than Charlie's father.

By 1930, both Harvey and Lizzie were apparently dead and Charlie was living with one of Lizzie's sons.

This is all I know about Harvey. My mother doesn't know ANY of this side of her family--her father died when she was 5 years old, so we know very little.

You have been so nice and helpful, I hope we can help each other.

I have just started working on the family tree and I am at a standstill with Riley and Mary. I know they had a son, George Washington Stansberry around 1889, who would be your great uncle.

I have numerous old photos of people that I would love to find the families too. Here is what information I have, maybe someone could be of some help (I hope). This stuff once belonged to my Great, Great, Uncle Lawerence Ivey Fowler, he passed in 1981. He had stuff (pictures, scrapbooks, etc.) from his 2nd marriage, her name was DOLLY DAVIS, I can't find anything on her I do have their marriage licenses, in the pictures there is a man named HAROLD, he was in the navy and in one of the pictures it was taken during bootcamp in Dec. 1942. I have later photos but have NO idea who they are of. They are very OLD pictures dating back to the early teens and I wish I could locate the family of these photos. Thanks so much for your time.

Looking for any information on a John Sutton who lived in Knox County, Tennessee in 1830. According to the 1830 Knox County Census Records he had 2 boys under 5 YOA, 2 girls between 10-15 YOA, and a wife between 40-50 YOA. He himself, was listed between 50-60 YOA. I think that this gentleman may be my 4th Great-Grandfather, but I'm not sure. According to my 3rd Great-Grandfather's Death Certificate, he was born in Knox County, Tennessee in 1825 to a John Sutton. I'm hoping to locate some names for the kids and wife.

Thanks,

James Sutton
