I am seeking any information on the parents of James M. Hume born in March 1822.

Some sources have listed James' parents as Charles Hume and Elizabeth Mimmo in Grainger County, but I believe this to be incorrect. The James Hume born of Charles and Elizabeth was born six years later in 1828. Charles and Elizabeth were married in November of 1822.

Another source has told me that James was born in Knox County and moved to Grainger later. They did not know James' parents, but believed the family came to Tennessee from Virginia via North Carolina.
