I'm looking for any information about George Workman. I know that he was born Jan 5, 1874 and died March 15, 1966. He is buried in Piney Cemetery in New Market. He married Eliza Jane Cook April 5, 1913 in Greene County. She was born May 17, 1885 and died Feb 15, 1969. She is also buried in Piney Cemetery. They had 9 children. John (1914-), Elbert (1915-), James Thomas (1916-1967), Flossie (1916-), Walter (1918-1996), Ruby (1919-2008), Roy Stanley (1921-1997); my grandfather, Willie Ruth (1922-1941), and Lola (1928-1929).

I am trying to find his parents. There is a story that George or possibly his father killed a black man in NC and moved to TN. I can't find any newspaper articles about this. However, I have found Eliza Jane in NC census and it shows that she was born in NC and her family moved to TN and then back to NC. I am stuck. George and Jane are my brick walls and any information you may have would be much appreciated.
