I've always heard there were a lot of Stafford's in & around Gainsboro and Jackson County. I've traced my line back to Adam Stafford born 1788 in NC. He relocated to Gainsboro and/or Jackson Co. where most of his children were born. I think some of his siblings or cousins may have relocated ffrom NC as well. His children were:

1.WIlliam Bedford Stafford - b. 1821 (in NC)
2.Sara Stafford-Noels - b. 1831
3.Andrew Jackson Stafford - b.1832
4.James Stafford - b. 1835
5.Eliza Stafford-Lee - b. 1837

His son, Andrew Jackson Stafford, relocated to McDonald Co., MO where some of his descendants still live. I too am from this line originating with A.J. Stafford.
