Isaac Pavatt Young, third son of Antoinetta and James Young, enlisted in Company I, 11th Tennessee Regiment in 1861, serving as a private for a year in the Confederate Army, then elected as Captain of the company, remaining as such until the close of the war. He took part in the battles of Stones River, Chickamauga, Atlanta and others. He was wounded in the hip at Franklin, and was taken to the First Presbyterian Church in Nashville. At the battle of Stones River he was shot in the leg and taken prisoner, discharged in Meridian, Mississippi, and walked home to McEwen.
On December 24, 1865 Isaac wedded America Edwards, daughter of Sarah (Sallie) White and John Edwards of Humphreys County. He purchased a farm on Tumbling Creek in 1885. According to Goodspeed, Mr. Young was a Democrat in politics.
He was a Primitive Baptist. Isaac P. and America had nine children: John Darlington, James Alfred, Jesse Gordon, Isaac Copeland, Sally Pearl, William Harvel, Lilly Lee, and Betty and Ida.

This information is from the book, "Humphreys County, Tennessee" Vol 1 published 1979. Also includes a picture of Isaac Pavatte Young and one of America Edwards Young, plus more information on their second son, James (Jim) Alfred Young and their oldest son, John Darlington Young.
