When I was a newbie researcher, I copied a paragraph (but not the title! nor the author!) from a memoir of growing up near Lick Creek because it mentioned my great-great grandfather, Tommy (Thomas) Rascoe.
I would love to learn the title of this book, which contains the following passage: "There were the Primitive Baptists with old Uncle Billie Gossett and Uncle Tommy Rascoe to head them, followed by an uncompromising class of old women, who would rub out the tracks of a Methodist who might chance to pass on the road."
Thomas W Rascoe came to Hickman County in the 1850s (but had moved to Williamson Co by 1880). In Hickman, according to the 1860 census, he was a 'nurseryman' and his neighbors were the Martins, the Tuckers, and the Harringtons.
