Lamb Family Reunion: Oct. 12, 2013

Lamb Family Reunion: Oct. 12, 2013

The Lamb Family Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Princeton Tourist Welcome Center in Princeton, KY. All family members (descendants of Thomas Lamb and Longshore Lamb) and friends of the family are invited to attend.

A ceremony to erect a tombstone for John Lamb and Mary (Clayton) Lamb will be held at 11 a.m. on Oct. 12 at the Lamb Family Cemetery in Scottsburg, KY, just outside of Princeton. Descendants of John and Mary and other Lamb family members contributed to this special project earlier this year to make funding possible for the tombstone.

After the ceremony, a catered, Southern style lunch will be served at the Princeton Tourist Welcome Center with a special guest speaker, Brenda Joyce Jerome. Jerome is well known for her extensive genealogy research, focusing primarily on Western Kentucky. She has written more than 40 genealogy volumes that have proven invaluable for researchers across the country, including for the Lamb family.

For more information, email Linda Lamb Monticelli (rlmflm@aol.com) or Matthew T. Patton (matthewtpatton@yahoo.com).
My great-great grandfather, Issac "Ike" Randle, lived in Henry Co., TN, but was born in VA in 1857 and he is listed as mixed race in fed census records. I believe his father was a Randle who emigrated from VA and relocated his plantation to Henry Co. around 1857. I don't know who this slave owner Randle is but I'm looking for information about him...

They are the most likely to be able to answer your question.
Betty
I looked at maps and photos here and other sites. The Sulphur and Sandy areas of Henry seem to have brick schools. Unfortunately there are not many photos of past schools to compare this photo to.I'm adding a picture here and Lula's spot on my tree hoping people might recognize the building.

Regina, did you ever find your info? Not that I have a huge amount of data, but this is my ex-husband's grandfather, through Irvin's second wife, Elsie Madison. They married in Dunklin, MO, lived there through the birth of their first child (living) and then moved to Arkansas. He pretty much left that family behind in Craighead, Arkansas, returning to TN, when those children were young, as he did with John Henry, Alvin and Katherine, he and Lillie's children. My father-in-law does not remember him at all, and Irvin left when he was just a toddler and did not contact his children from Elsie, or I have heard, from Lillie. Irvin died in TN in the mid-late 1950's, according to my mother-in-law, probably 1955-6. If you still need data, I hope this helps.

I have an old class photo. My aunt owned the photo before she donated it but I took a picture of it before she did. She said it was most likely Lula Coleman's photo. I've been trying to figure out the school's name. The 1900 census shows that Lula lived in civil district 15. The district is in between Paris Landing and Sulpher Well and borders part of Benton County. The school was brick and at least 2 stories high. She was in 1st grade. I had tried Benton County also and someone there recommended that Henry was the more likely county. She did move to Benton after 1900.I can post the photo if someone needs to see it.

Bob told me he played with the baby in the photo. It was a church group.

Now, I have the photo somewhere in my computer, no doubt and will find it and send it soon.

Clarence

My mother's ggf was James Paschall,I4. He moved, before 1833, from Warren Co,NC, to Henry and bought a farm. He lived in N Henry where the state line moved putting him in Calloway,KY. He was in the 1860 census there, very old. James was a gson of William of the land grants. I could go on forever here. My sister married a Paschall, her 3 or 4th cousin. I never got it straight. I would like to hear from any family.

Hello Cloma,

I am primarily looking for information on the Lowe and Smith from Harlan. I am mostly interested in family history. Did the Lowe family arrive from England/Ireland? I hear Otella was part indian, is that so and what tribe? Is there any family history during the civil war that is known? Were they Union or Rebel? I would like to also meet my father one time before he dies, he might have already died but I can't find a death record to verify. However, if he wanted to be left alone I would respect that and would be happy gathering history from any family member that would be willing to share it.

Whitlock got its name from a wealthy land owner of the area named Hardy Whitlock. He later gave much of his land for the clay mining industry.

Matthew Russell d. ca 1845 in Henry Co.

A group of Russell researchers are tryin to locate a descendant of Matthew Russell who died ca 1845 in Henry Co. We think he had left Bedford Co. abt. 1834-37 to move to Henry Co. If he is the one from Bedford Co., he had previously lived in Rutherford Co., TN arriving there ca 1810 from Mecklenburg Co., NC. We also think he is the son of David and Jean/Jane White Russell. David died in Mecklenburg in 1802 leaving a will naming Jean/Jane, David, Matthew, Margaret married John Rogers, Mary married Zacheus Wilson, Elizabeth "Betsy" married Robert McCord, Isabella married Robert Mitchell, Martha and Jincey.

Matthew from Henry Co. estate settlement named the following: B. S. Allen [Samuel B. Allen], S.S. Russell, A. W. Russell [Austin Russell], A. W. Russell guardian for 4 legatees, Mariah Russell, C. T. Hughes [Columbus T. Hughes], J. W. Patterson [James W. Patterson m. Jane Russell], R. A. Russell by his attorney D. S. Russell.
The four legatees could be James, Martha, Geraldine P. and Delphy Ann.

Good Evening, We have been searching for years for a George W. Thompson born in Ky. @ 1800. We have no other information pertaining to him except that he married Esther Burris who was born in Ky. on Jan. 24, 1804 and they were probably married @ 1821 in Ky. Most or all of their children were born in Ky. Where? Don't know. Esther divorced George in Warrick Co., In. @ 1856. She stated at that time that George was out of the area and that sh bought and worked to pay for the farm she lived on and asked that she could have the farm there in northern Warrick Co., Ind.

Since that is all we know pertaining to George W. Thompson, he could have remarried and had more children. He MIGHT be a brother to the other Thompson brothers in Warrick Co. that moved there from somewhere in Ky. Because of this, I have collected all kinds of data on different Thompson families in Ky. If you are interested, I'm willling to share back and forth.
Priscilla, He was indeed listed as a "Lawyear", and the industry is "Private business". Looks like the census man crossed the V instead of T.

William P. Morgan is listed with his wife Elizabeth in the 1940 Census. It looks to me like his occupation is Lawyer, but I cannot read the "industry" column. I'd appreciate help with that. I cannot attach the image of the census because I have it saved as a pdf. If someone would like me to send it to them, I would be glad to do that.

If anyone knows William or Elizabeth or this family, I would be interested to know more about them. Elizabeth's maiden name was Harper. She is the connection to my family.
Thanks,
Priscilla
