Thanks for the comment. I think the "mother" reference for the 60 year-old no first name Barfield/Barefield in the 1880 census is an error. She claimed birth in Ohio, while in the same census entry Benedict (as B.A.) gave KY for his mother's birth state. Benedict's wife Lucy Minerva Watkins gave NC as state of birth for her parent. Although Barfield and Barefield people are found in a lot of Henry County, Tennessee records, I don't see a connection to Benedict Roby or wife Minerva at this time. Benedict's siblings remained in Kentucky. I will see if any obits/death notices for them mention Benedict, which I suspect is unlikely.
