I did some research online and using my personal resources and have a suggestion as to the parents of Elizabeth Clark Linton.

In 1850 in Henry County TN, Joshua Linton ($700 Real Estate) and Elizabeth, aged 21 born TN, are living in District 9. Two households below them on the census is Permelia Clark, aged 42 born NC. Living with her are several children aged from 19 to 12 all born in TN. Each of the children has $200 in Real Estate which is uncommon to see. If Elizabeth is the daughter of Permelia, her Real Estate would be included with the value of her husband's property so no smoking gun there. Permelia also owned 4 slaves. (As Pamela W. Clark on Ancestry and also on the Slave Schedule, but clearly her in District 9.)

I searched for a will, since there was that much property for children to inherit, or guardian records, or settlement records, but only found a widows dower set aside for Permelia Clark wife of Bradley or Brantley G. Clark, deceased,(written Amelia in Will Book F) and an estate sale, all in Will Book F in 1843. Will Book F is kind of a mess with three different numbering sequences in the book. I've never seen the original book but have to wonder if pages went missing or just what happened which may account for there being no will. There are no guardianship or settlement records available online for the years needed so they may no longer exist.

In 1860, Permelia Clark is living in the household of Alson or Alison Linton (male) who was also her next door neighbor in 1850, still in District 9 of Henry County.

In 1840 there is a Bradley or Brantley G. Clark (index on Ancestry says Drunlley G.) listed in Henry County. Known ages and sex of children works with the 1850 census except 2 more girls. He owned 5 slaves, ages and sex correspond with Permelia's on the 1850 Slave Schedule except for 1 liitle boy.

Elizabeth is the right age and in the right place to be the daughter of Bradley or Brantley G. and Permelia Clark. There are other records in Henry County which may tell the tale, but I don't have access to them from home. You should contact the Henry County Archives in Paris to see if there are additional records. They are online, too, and very helpful but they seem to be offline today.

I have the records I used if you'd care to see them and I sure hope some further research will prove Bradley/Brantley G. and Permelia W. Clark to be your grandparents. Contact me at peggyt1950@aol.com if you want them.
