I found an old business directory from 1854, listing businesses in Hawkins County and some surrounding counties.

ROGERSVILLE, the county seat of Hawkins County, is a thriving Village, situated in a beautiful valley, two miles and a half from the Holston river, sixty-six miles east of Knoxville, and contains 4 Churches, 1 Bank, 7 Dry Goods Stores; 2 Confectioneries, 1 Book Store, 2 Hotels, 1 Female College, 1 Male Academy, 1 Printing Office, 1 Odd Fellows Lodge, 1 Masonic Lodge, 1 Division Sons of Temperance, and is in every particular, one of the most handsome and pleasant towns in the Southern States.
