Attached are images of the Civil War pension records of Baker Arnold, who served with the 29th Tennessee Infantry, Company K. Included in the file is a statement from a fellow soldier attesting that during the battle at Franklin, Baker used his gun as a club and fought on when his ammunition ran out.
Note that he is listed on the last page of this record as having deserted twice. I have ordered his military file and will post an update with any additional information. Keep in mind that many soldiers deserted to tend farms and to defend farm and family during from the northern forces.
